Alternate Sports List

Does Wrestling count?

If it does, I might do a list of heavyweight champions... of a federation founded after Wrestlemania 2 by Jesse Ventura and those other WWF wrestlers that were in favour of unionizing, but aside from Bret Hart (who said he agreed with Ventura, in an interview) I don't know who else could jump ship - maybe the rest of the Canadians, the Europeans (such as the British Bulldogs) and a few people formerly from PNW, if Piper follows Ventura.

In the end, it'd basically end up being a territory on steroids (minus the actual steroids, hopefully), covering Canada, the Pacific Northwest and the Great Lakes between Minnesota and Michigan. Something like a northern JCP/WCW maybe, with its own group of hardcore fans and a long-standing grudge with the WWF that would eventually blow up in the mid-1990s, of course. :p

This is based in my timeline I refer to as NFL-PCFL. In this world, the meeting between Lamar Hunt and George Halas has a better outcome and as a result, the Dallas Texans, Houston Oilers and Minnesota Vikings join the NFL. With the AFL now dead in the water, the three western teams of the rebel league met with the 49ers and Rams ownership and decided to form their own league. Eventually, shortly before the preseason the Chicago Cardinals, now in Saint Louis, joined the league. That league is called the PCFL.

The titles from 1933-1959 are all real.

PoD: The Arizona Cardinals lose to the San Francisco 49ers in week 8 of the NFL season to the San Francisco 49ers, but the rest of their season goes like OTL, meaning that they are 3-13 and get the #1 draft pick--Eli Manning, who, unlike with the San Francisco 49ers, plays for them ITTL. Larry Fitzgerald goes to the San Diego Chargers, the New York Giants draft Ben Rothelisberger, and the Pittsburgh Steelers draft Philip Rivers...

Super Bowl XXXIX: New England Patriots (3) over the Philadelphia Eagles
Super Bowl XL: Pittsburgh Steelers (5) over the Seattle Seahawks
Super Bowl XLI: San Diego Chargers (1) over the Chicago Bears (ITTL, with no Brees to the Saints, they draft Vince Young instead--Young will do better under Sean Payton than Jeff Fisher, IMO)
Super Bowl XLII: Green Bay Packers (4) over the New England Patriots (ITTL, with no Manning, the Giants lose to the Packers, who then go on to beat the unbeaten Patriots for the Super Bowl win)
Super Bowl XLIII: Pittsburgh Steelers (6) over the Arizona Cardinals (ITTL, Rivers beats Peyton Manning and Tom Brady (who doesn't get injured ITTL--more on that later) in the playoffs before then going on to beat Eli Manning in the Super Bowl)
Super Bowl XLIV: New Orleans Saints (1) over the Indianapolis Colts (ITTL, Brett Favre, instead of going to the Jets, decides to go to his hometown (Brett is from Kiln, Mississippi IOTL, 50 miles from New Orleans) Saints for his final two years and mentors Vince Young, who is struggling; Favre will retire after this season)
Super Bowl XLV: Pittsburgh Steelers (7) over the Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLVI: New England Patriots (4) over the Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLVII: Denver Broncos (3) over the San Francisco 49ers (ITTL, the Steelers qualify as the wild card instead of the Ravens, and lose to the Broncos--under Peyton Manning as IOTL--in the playoffs; the Broncos then go on to beat the Patriots)
Super Bowl XLVIII: Pittsburgh Steelers (8) over the San Francisco 49ers (ITTL, the Steelers get most of the defensive players that went to the Seattle Seahawks IOTL--creating a defense comparable to the Steel Curtain defenses of the 1970s)
Super Bowl XLIX: Pittsburgh Steelers (9) over the Arizona Cardinals
Super Bowl L: Carolina Panthers (1) over the Pittsburgh Steelers
Super Bowl LI: New England Patriots (5) over the Dallas Cowboys
Super Bowl LII: Philadelphia Eagles (1) over the Pittsburgh Steelers (ITTL, the Eagles get Mahomes instead of Kansas City, who gets Carson Wentz)
Super Bowl LIII: New Orleans Saints (2) over the New England Patriots
Super Bowl LIV: Philadelphia Eagles (2) over the Tennessee Titans

2017: Vikings 20, Jaguars 16

What would have happened if this result was reality:

Case Keenum doesn't lose his job as Viking starting QB.
Kirk Cousins signs with the Jets.
The Broncos draft Sam Darnold.
Larry Fitzgerald goes to the San Diego Chargers, the New York Giants draft Ben Rothelisberger, and the Pittsburgh Steelers draft Philip Rivers...

I don't see Rivers falling past the Browns with the sixth or seventh pick. They liked him more than Big Ben.

I might do an alternate one where he goes to the Browns, then; thanks for the information @AltSptHst...

(Just wanting to bring this back, if there's any interest)

What Goes Up Must Come Down

PoD: The Patriots actually go undefeated and beat the Giants in Super Bowl XLII, but Tom Brady's ACL and MCL tear in the opening game of the 2008 season is a career-ender, and some...interesting things happen.
Super Bowl XLII: New England Patriots (4) over the New York Giants, 21-17
Super Bowl XLIII: Arizona Cardinals (3) over the Pittsburgh Steelers, 30-27
Super Bowl XLIV: Minnesota Vikings (1) over the Indianapolis Colts, 28-24
Super Bowl XLV: Green Bay Packers (4) over the New York Jets, 31-21
Super Bowl XLVI: New York Giants (3) over the Indianapolis Colts, 30-22
Super Bowl XLVII: San Francisco 49ers (6) over the Baltimore Ravens, 32-31
Super Bowl XLVIII: Seattle Seahawks (1) over the New England Patriots, 45-14 (Peyton Manning plays for New England ITTL.)
Super Bowl XLIX: Seattle Seahawks (2) over the New England Patriots, 31-27
Super Bowl L: New England Patriots (5) over the Dallas Cowboys, 27-17
Super Bowl LI: Atlanta Falcons (1) over the Jacksonville Jaguars, 31-13
Super Bowl LII: New Orleans Saints (1) over the Denver Broncos, 34-24
Super Bowl LIII: Denver Broncos (3) over the New Orleans Saints, 38-27
Super Bowl LIV: Green Bay Packers (5) over the Denver Broncos, 34-31
Super Bowl LV: Denver Broncos (4) over the Green Bay Packers, 41-24

Super Bowl XXXVII: New Orleans Saints (1) beat the Jacksonville Jaguars
Super Bowl XXXVIII: New Orleans Saints (2) beat the Oakland Raiders

Super Bowl XL: New Orleans Saints (3) beat the Pittsburgh Steelers
Super Bowl XLI: New Orleans Saints (4) beat the Indianapolis Colts
Super Bowl XLII: New Orleans Saints (5) beat the Oakland Raiders
I’m guessing Peyton Manning got drafted by the Saints ITTL?
