Alternate sparking points for the *30 Years' War

I'm currently working on a TL with a strong focus on an alternate 30 Years' War (probably won't be 30 years long, but has similar qualities to OTL's conflict). Since the POD takes place over a decade before the outbreak of war in OTL, I'm thinking about giving this TL's *Thirty Year's War a different sparking point other than the Defenestration of Prague. What sort of events would you see as inciting a similar sort of long-reaching destructive religious war similar in scope to the 30 Years' War in OTL occurring in the latter half of the 1610s?

Anyone? What event could spark off a war similar to the thirty years' war in OTL? Perhaps something in the newly-independent Dutch Republic, or another event in the HRE, as in OTL, but something other than the defenestration of Prague?

The arranged marriage between Queen Margaret and Prince Henry goes as planned, and Coligny is shot as OTL. However the gunman is captured by the angry mob and after being tortured, confesses Catherine de Medici had hired her. The Protestant nobles gathered in Paris then seize arms, leading to street fighting in Paris. Within days this spreads across France, and the truce which Catherine had arranged dissolves.

The Hapsburgs are both alarmed by France descending into chaos while gleeful that Catherine's insubordination to Rome was holding consequences. Austria and Spain then send troops to France officially to assist Catherine in suppressing the Protestant heresy, while in fact hoping to install a more Rome-friendly leader in France and preserve the Catholic hegemony over Europe. Soon all of Europe is embroiled in a three-way war.

It could be something similar to the defenestration but in a different Hapsburg territory. The Hapsburg realm was a complete mess in terms of system of government ( lots of component duchies with somewhat ambiguous relationships to Vienna) so there is always the potential for unrest to snowball. At the time the Catholics' power in Imperial institutions was increasing which meant the Lutheran princes were more inclined to view small incidents as potential threats.

Personally I doubt that the Dutch Republic would be sufficient cause. The Austrian Hapsburg's considered that a Spanish issue not an Imperial one for the most part.

I'll comment with more specifics once I dig out my book on the Thirty Years' War

That sounds like the sort of thing I'm looking for.

What book is this? I'm trying to find good books on the Thirty Years' War.
