Alternate Organization Names

hey, all. i'm just gonna use this thread for all queries that i have concerning this kind of thing for my projects to try and keep things simple.

i've gotten back to writing some stuff for my ASB ATL lately, particularly *British history. as i've gotten further along in history, closer to the modern period, i inevitably have had to make many references to teh Royal Navy. thing is, ITTL Britain is a very different country, particularly the fact that it is officially an imperial state as opposed to just having a colonial empire, and its monarch is an Emperor. this more or less demands that the name of the Royal Navy (and by extension the RAF when it gets to that) are given different names. to be perfectly honest, though, i REALLY don't want to just call the RN "the Imperial Navy" ITTL, so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas for other names i could give to TTL's version of the Royal Navy. i was thinking something to the effect of High Seas Fleet (the Imperial German navy) just to give it a bit more flavor.

thoughts? opinions?

Why change?
Royal Navy shows a continuation and that means stability
Use OTL Names.
Channel Fleet
Grand Fleet
Home Fleet
_____ Squadron
and so forth

tbph, i think "Imperial Navy", for instance, sounds kinda tacky :p as for changes in general, it's mainly for a bit of consistency: from *George IV onward, pretty much any instance of "royal" has and will be replaced with "imperial" as far as writing the TL is concerned

i came up with one just now, resolving my own problem: the *British navy ITTL is call the Maritime Fleet (of course abbreviated MF, which i may play up in the story with derision leveled at them saying that "MF" really means "mother fuckers":p) and, in the same stroke, came up with one for Russia. the Russian navy ITTL will be called the Federal Navy (since the official name is Russian Federation, and partly because Russia ITTL becomes more like OTL's UK)

as a bit of peer review, i'd also like to put forward another alternate organization that i've come up with. ITTL, the CIA is replaced with a virtually identical organization called the Central Unified Liberty Protection Regiment, here using an older definition of "regiment" referring to influence and control, but it also refers to its organizational structure and the number of active members that they have at any given time. the acronym is CULPR, referring to the spy ring used by the Americans during the ARW, with CULPR's director being given the successive pseudonyms "Sam Culper", "Mr. Culper", and/or "Mr. Ring" (even if the director is a woman; think of "Mr. Culper" as being like M in James Bond). furthermore, there's a number of successive agent titles throughout their history, also James Bond-based, and they're all numbers (for example, the Deputy Director of CULPR is "Agent 495"

another thing i'm considering for CULPR, just as a completely misplaced reference to the original Culper Ring, is that their motto is a thinly-veiled parody of the poem of the One Ring

thoughts? constructive criticism?

Instead of "Imperial Navy" (which sounds badass, by the way, you should keep it), how about the "Imperial British Navy", or IBN? It's similar to how people said the IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) in OTL.
