'Far Eastern' is a single word in Russian.
Dalnevostochnaya with Wikipedia's translation, though the current name for the region is slightly different, though given Far Eastern Federal District is the current name of the greater region, I am guessing it sticks. I don't know. Wikipedia also says it was refered to as Chita Republic. I read about an area there being called Green Ukraine as well, but now that I think of it, I believe 'the Ukraine' refered to outskirts or borderlands, so it might have just been calling the area that. Now, looking at a map of the Republic, not showing the American and Japanese occupation zones (perhaps the Japanese would try annexing north Sakhalin if they got them as a puppet state, or they just keep occupying it without changing the flags) we can see they didn't exactly have many names for the area not related to geography. On based on being on the far side of a lake (and thus suggesting they were still looking at the area as if they were on the western side), one named after a river, and the other named for... Well, being next to water. I would love to see a timeline or map with an early POD that helped populate this area rich in mineral resources, lumber, fish, etc with people dispossessing from the Baltic, Ukranians, Poles, perhaps Armenians and Assyrians... Just a rich blend of people who can only agree that the Bolsheviks and the Emperors, be they of China, Japan, or Russia, should all go fuck themselves. They might also want a sprinkle of Central Asians and Siberians. I can see this having very interesting implications for American relations in the area, as well as Australians.
Hope the map is showing properly. Also, they apparently may have claimed all the Russian Pacific Coast. Not sure.
