Hi!
I didn`t know, if I should post this in here or in "pre-1900". I decided here, because these countries came independent after 1900.
So my question is, if and what could these Slavic countries (/people) have been named alternatively.
Belarus
Other than using the terms "(White) Ruthenia" or "White Russia", My idea would be naming it Krivichia or Krivichy (Крівічія). The name sounds cool and is part of a Belarussian national myth.
What do you think about that?
Slovenia
Very similar situation as in Croatia, who called their whole country after one region into it, why not calling Slovenia Carniola (Kranjska) instead?
Slovakia
Do you have any ideas how to give this country an unique and interesting name?
