What would be a suitable alternative name for native Americans besides the ones currently in use like aboriginal, Amerindian, and native Americans?

There's one theory in which the term Hoosier might have originated from either "rougeur" or "rougeaud", the French words for "redness" and "rougeaud" respectively, which used were used pejoratively to describe Native Americans. I like the Hoosier one, since I’m from Indiana and I’m pretty familiar with it. I also like skraeling, cos a TL where that is used sounds very plausible. Perhaps the Vikings stay long enough for the term to become more known. I think another potential name could be novamundine (from the Latin term novamundia, meaning new world).

Speaking of mythology, I had an idea where native Americans be called some variation of Hesperides, since the ancient Greeks believed the garden of the Hesperides was at the edge of the world.
I meant for native Americans as a whole, not just one specific tribe
