Alternate name for an independent Spanish Netherlands

Just pointing out that the House name doesn't automatically become the name of the realm, France wasn't the Kingdom of Valois despite being a Valoisian Kingdom.
Likewise the Brabantine Netherlands won't necessarily be the Kingdom of Brabant. It's almost certain not to start out as a kingdom anyway.

This is very true, perhaps it would start of as a Duchy as it was originally, perhaps even a Grand Duchy

Belgium/Belgica is simply the most convenient name - it was in low scale use by erudite folks anyway ...
You can resurrect (Lower) Lothringen of course, or steal (Lower) Burgundy.

Hmm interesting, I do have to admit a Habsburg Belgium would be fascianting to see

Spain itself is already based on the Roman era name of Hispania, so it's an option.
The name "Spain" was used for a long time in the geographic sense of Iberian Peninsula as convenient shorthand for the +3 polities on the peninsula. After c.90 of union between Castile and Aragon there were 80 years of the whole peninsula being under a single ruler, reinforcing the usage of the "catch all" term.

You could call it the : Pays de par-deçà, it was the term that french and the spanish netherland used to designate the realm.

Voorbiland ( the beyond land) in the opposite of the Netherlands.

X province (x is the number of province of the country).

Did you have more info about the origin of their independance and their administration after this it could help to find a name.

Or we could do the sensible thing a name it Chattia or maybe Hollandia Cattorum.

Where would that originate from?

Well, in this scenario which is for my current timeline, Archduke Charles and his wife Margaret Theresa of Spain will have a son, as per the terms of their marriage contract, this will then seperate the Spanish Netherlands from Spain. Charles and Margaret's son will rule as the independent ruler of the Spanish Netherlands, as an absolute monarch.

so the likely option are : the name of Pays de par-deçà (advantage it's the current name of the realm, it show their particulairism against the French, this name means that their land are beyond the french so are not french even if they are culturally close of the french, so it will also pleased the french speaking province of this realm, disavantage it's a french term, and it was the same name that was used for the netherlands in begining (before it was transformed in Pays-bas netherlands) so Dutch could use this name to claim these land.

another name like Belgicae, Batavorum, ... (advangtage it a new name that claim their particuliarism and would help to the realm to create a new identity in the long term, disavantage these name are anachronic, in this period i don't see a king use this kind of term fallen into obsolescence and would not be liked by the common people, weakening the foundations of the country in the short term).

you could also use the term of X province, but it will would imply an idea of confederation at least in begining;

The king could also use the term Pays de par-deçà in french and Voorbiland in Dutch to claim the specificity of the realm against the Dutch and the French.

Hmm interesting, perhaps simply going for the Netherlands at the time? As the Dutch Republic, is still the Dutch Republic

the official name of the Dutch republic was republic of the seven United Provinces of the Netherlands.

but yes they could go for the Netherlands in the short term, it seems for me that it would be the more likely option.

Agreed, perhaps afterwards someone else might suggest Batvia

The problem is that the name Batavia, the Latin name of Holland, or more exactly from the territory that the Romans gave to the region of the Rhine estuary, where the Batavians were established, this name doesn't have any link with the Spanish Netherlands

Hmm so Belgiae would likely become more apparent then?

the problem is that in this period this name would be linked to Belgica Regia, Belgica Regia designated all of the former Netherlands tthe title of Belgica Foederata (the federated Belgium) to designate the federation of the United Provinces and to signify that this country was constituted in federation. William I of Orange-Nassau, leader of the struggle against Spanish rule, called one of his daughters, Catherine-Belgium, this name being chosen as a symbol of the struggle for unity and national independence. So this name is linked to the desire of annexation from the Netherlands

Hmm, I suppose then one is stuck until they decide for Belgium aha
