Alternate lives of Hall of Famers

Suppose, for whatever reasons, that the professional sport in question didn't exist for any number of Hall of Fame athletes: what would they have done with their lives in an alternate scenario?

For starters, consider:

Ty Cobb: Prototypical early 20th century southern politician; arch-segregationist; leader of filibusters against anti-lynching laws
Babe Ruth: Saloonkeeper and minor ward heeler in Baltimore
Ted Williams: Retired major general; USMC aviator

Let's also get some sports here besides baseball, while we're at it.

"Rocket" Richard was a machinist, I figure he'd stick with that, and maybe get into the trade unions. Gordie Howe might end up working in a mine. Valery Kharlamov could have been a officer in the Red Army. Mario Lemieux strikes me as a business type. Wayne Gretzky would be a good career advisor. Jari Kurri could be a personal trainer. And I think Mark Messier would have ended up in prison.

Hulk Hogan could have become the lead guitarist in one of the most successful rock bands of the 1970's/1980's...

Mario Andretti could have ended up a successful business advisor and winemaker either in his native Italy or in the US. Dale Earnhardt would be a typical southern blue-collar type, complete with the accent. Michael Schumacher could have ended up one of Mercedes-Benz's finest mechanics.

A few more miscellaneous entries:

Frank Robinson: upper management corporate type; likely a pioneer breaking the color barrier in a boardroom.
Bobby Hull: wheat farmer; major land owner in Saskatchewan
Mike Ditka: Inspector, Chicago police

Messier

And I think Mark Messier would have ended up in prison.

Or, a nutritionist. My friend told me that he used to plan the meals of his teammates.
As for Ditka, if he was a police inspector, it more than likely would be for Pittsburgh, not Chicago, since he is from there.

Someone also mentioned Bobby Hull. He could have been in prison for killing his wife. He was a wifebeater from what I heard.

Other alternate careers:
John Elway: Baseball Player for the Yankees or Accountant(he had an economics degree).
Pete Rose(I know he isn't a HOFer but he would be if it wasn't for the gambling): Worker in a Cincinnati Factory or a bookie.
Terry Bradshaw: Country Singer and Actor
