I am working on a TL where the Byzies keep Crete and Euphimius doesn't defect to the Aghlaribs, so Sicilia is still part of the empire. Basil still becomes emperor and reforms the Empire and the navy, so a more successful naval state with Sicilia and Sardegna still kicking the Arabs butts. Now comes Leo VI. I want to talk about the future realations with the Imperium and the Bulgarians, who during Basil's reign, had peace, if Leo goes with his gut and fires, and exiles or murders, Stylian the basileopater, thus forgoing the scandal and scorn of Symeon, Knyaz of Bulgaria. I wonder if the continued peace, and Symeon's own hellenophilia leads to an alliance? Maybe the Patriarch gives Symeon the title Tsar like he does in OTL, but this time under different circumstances, or maybe that's stretching it. Bonus points on how Photios can remain in office or be restored, and the impact of that?
