ATT. GENERAL KAINE SUBPOENAED BY REPUBLICAN HOUSE

As of today, Attorney General Tim Kaine has been subpoenaed following leaked information on the Fast and Furious Scandal by an unknown member of the Department of Justice. The GOP, still seething from the recent defeat of Former Governor Mike Huckabee, has claimed that Kaine, President Obama and the entire Justice Department had covered up the Scandal to help the President's Re Election chances. Senators Jim DeMint and Rand Paul have led the anti F&F Brigade of the GOP as of late, both of them giving 5 and 6 hour speeches respectively in the space of a week on the topic. However, the President has said that the accusations are "Ridiculous" and that the GOP was trying to capitalize off the deaths of two unknown border agents on September 20th.

(I did a DBWI on this some time ago. I also wanted to do a TL with this premise. However, I need to do more research to make it plausible, realistic and well written.)

Lord of Light (1981)- An Indo-American science fiction film based on the novel by Roger Zelanzy. The film was directed,written, and co-produced by Barry Ira Gellar, with production design by famed Comic artist Jack Kirby, and makeup by famed make-up artist John Chambers. It tells the story of colonists in the distant future, dominating another planet, who have adopted the guise of Hindu gods to cement their rule. However, one of the colonists dissents, and adopts the guise of the Buddha to counter them. The result is a decades long conflict between the two sides. It was made in part in India due to the production's finacial troubles in America, and the fact the story is about Hinduism. It starred several prominent Indian actors of the 1970's, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, and Hema Malini, and their profile was raised in America as a result of the film, leading to American film roles. After a famously troubled production, it was released in the US on March 21st, 1981, and in India in June of the same year. It famously garnered protests from various Hindutva groups over its portrayal of Hindu gods (even if those gods were little more than colonists pretending to be gods), as well as the very notion that westerners could portray Hinduism in such a manner. Protests and riots broke out wherever the film was being shown. Several of the actors got death threats, and Geller was attacked by a Hindutva radical. Despite (or because of)the controversy, the film was a hit, allowing for a boom in Science fiction films to be produced(to supplement Star Wars), especially New Wave science fiction adaptations, including The Left Hand of Darkness (1983), Nova (1985), and Zelanzy's own "Amber series", starting with "Nine Princes of Amber" (1988). It also facilitated the rise of Science fiction films in India, including an adaptation of Sathyajit Ray's "The Alien." Interest in Hinduism and Buddhism increased during the Eighties due to "Lord of Light." It's biggest accomplishment was setting the grounds for "Science Fiction Land" an amusement park in Aurora Colorado, opened in 1986 to wide public consumption. It has a strong cult following, one which continues to this day, and has been counted among the most influential science fiction films.

Northwest and TWA to merger-Wall Stree Journal June 21st 2002
Trans World Airlines and Northwest airlines announced a proposed merger yesterday,c reacting what could be the worlds 3rd largest airline, behind Pan American and Eastern. The Two carriers had undergone negotiations to combine for some months, spurred by Northwest airlines financial difficulties. The carrier had undergone chapter 11th bankruptcy in 1993 while's TWA has undergone extensive restructuring. The merger poses several advantages, both airlines have non overlapping international networks. Northwest airlines has a few European flights and a sophisticated asian network. TWA is the mirror opposite with no flights between Bombay and Honolulu, yet and extensive European network. This would put it in a prime position to compete with Pan Am, whose overseas network strengthened in recent years due to its purchase of United Airlines Domestically there will be hubs in Minneapolis, JFK, St Louis and Detroit. The potential for overlap could prove detrimental, and the presentations as moot on where any excess capacity will be cut from. Yet the potential for 2 or more Midwestern super hubs would put it in a prime position to compete with Eastern, Delta Pan Am and America, particularly in the trans continental market. The merger is currently awaiting approval by shareholders and the FAA.

What has happened to my Country? The President was travelling to Moscow to meet with Premier Khrushchev over the Nuclear Weapons Stockpile in Cuba. But as his plane went over the Turkish Airspace, it was shot down like a Clay Pigeon by some Terrorist Group. I was sworn in earlier this morning and I've already heard Conspiracies, riots have broken out and now the Soviets have refused to co operate now. God help us all.

President Daschle ends Presidential Campaign - Endorses Senator Obama following New Hampshire Blowout

Following President Daschle's recent defeat in the New Hampshire Primary by over 6 Points to Illinois Senator Barack Obama, the embattled President has quit the Democratic Primaries, endorsing Obama in a tearful speech, calling him "A man who stood by his Party 100% every second he was in the Senate". Daschle was elected in 2008 amid the Economic Recession, and has been heavily controversial ever since. He failed to get Health Care Legislation Passed in 2010, which Obama has been campaigning on since he entered in July. Though Daschle has been promoting his ability to get a large scale Economic Recovery Act through the Senate as well as a repeal of DADT, it simply wasn't enough in the end.​

President Linhares meets PM Rosenberg

Brazil's President David Linhares received this morning the British Prime Minister Diane Rosenberg. They signed several agreements of infrastructure and economy, besides the prime minister speaks about the Olympics Games in 2016: "In 2012, we made a great Olympics, as New York in 2008, and for Brazil even as we all British, you to do a great Olympiad. President Linhares currently has low popularity and should lose re-election in 2014, Rosenberg and Labour forwards already a victory in European elections.​
