Alternate history of Byzantine Empire

It is alternate history if they don't invaded gallipoli or they maintained their realm in Anatolia, then how the modern south eastern Europe looks

It depends...

"On what?", you may ask

And I will tell you it depends on your POD

Example:

If you say the Turks don't invade because they all die of plague, or because the Mongols wipe them out, etc. I and others could give you an answer.

We need a PoD

IOTL the Turks were able to take advantage of an earthquake that destroyed Gallipoli's defences. Butterflying that earthquake away would probably be the easiest POD.

But then you would need ASB intervention. Changing such natural events as an earthquake are not even possible with today´s technology. The best would be to have a POD in good time before the Ottoman invasion of Europe, so as not to make them strong enough. As long as they are strong enough, they have no reason not to invade. Unfortunately, I do not have sufficient knowledge in early Ottoman history to suggest a POD that is as late as possible, but still early enough to ensure that the Ottomans do not become a sufficiently strong power.

Maybe the Mongols push harder into Anatolia and kill off one of Osman I's ancestors, preventing the rise of an Ottoman state?

Would that necessarily prevent some other Turkish warlord from rising to power? There were no shortage of them in the world in which the Turks existed, and the Byzantine Empire was exceedingly weak. Even a deeper Mongol penetration into Anatolia might just change what we call the rising Turkic Empire that pushes into Europe - I doubt we've butterflied the ghazi urge to conquer the City of the World's Desire.

This is easy.

Avoid the 2nd Palaiologid Civil War.

In 1341 the Empire was largely still in a tenable position and could still resist any Turks that get across the strait.

Technically yes, although I was under the impression that the "Geological PODs are ASB" rule was intended to cover wide-ranging questions like "What if there actually was a continent of Atlantis?" rather than questions like "What if earthquake x didn't happen?" which refer to a specific historical event. (If one of the mods is reading this, perhaps they could clear the matter up?)

If not, just have the Byzantines quickly move back to reoccupy the town, so that the Turks don't have a sufficient window of opportunity to cross.
