Alternate History Combat Aircraft

What would be a good alternative to the F-8 Crusader as a carrier based light fighter in the 1960s?
It's inspired by the V-1100 which was Vaughts entry into the Light weight fighter program the few examples look like a cross between an F16 and an F8. It did use a refined Verson of the F8/A7 wing.
The drawing is a slice of an A7 and an f16.

I see it as an improved A7 alternative F18

I could also see it as an export plane to countries like Brazil or France that operated smaller carriers

For the US or in general?
More generally for any country using an aircraft carrier (Essex-sized or maybe smaller) in the 1960s.

These LWF prototypes would be entering service after 1975, so not fitting the time period I'm looking for.

The Aeronavale got their Crusaders in 1965, and I am looking at a similar timeframe. The Grumman Super Tiger would be an obvious choice, and the Saab 32 Draken and the Mirage III or V would also be similar in size and timeframe, but those were not carrier-capable designs, and I don't know how extensively they may need to be modified.

The Saab I'm not sure of but I'm guessing not easy as to the Mirages the French bought the F8 that's your answer.

Post Korea pre Vietnam. In the US you have (and this is just off the top of my head )
F-100 Super Saber (the F-86 did have a navalized version but the navy wasn't a fan of the Nose mounted In take so there is that).
The Super Tiger you already mentioned (probably the best choice)
The F-101 is the other Century Series that could be possible.
Then there is the F-107 (just keep the intake on the chin )
Also I just found these

For the US i would say the Super Tiger is the front runner as for France the bird below is the one I prefer from that era
