Alternate German political party question

In a Weimar surviving timeline, where extreme parties have been successfully eliminated from viability, and more mainstream parties survive, what could be done to have the old National Liberal party survive to this day as a viable majority party?

The only real difference I would see is a trending away from monarchism towards republicanism with the new constitution as a trait of the party going forward.

The old National Liberals fell apart even before the National Assembly gathered in Weimar. While the left wing merged with the Fortschrittliche to create the DDP, the majority of the party founded the DVP in late 1918.

For either of those to keep significant portions of the electorate behind them, you'd need to have a POD that avoids the Ruhrkampf and subsequent government over-spending, leading to hyperinflation. After hyperinflation wiped out the savings of the middle class, their traditional support for the liberals evaporated right along with those ...

If you can avoid that and keep the Republic together, maybe a charismatic successor to Stresemann can reunite the factions at some point in the 30s or 40s.
