Alternate France!

I made a map for an alternate history of France. I hope you like it ;) , and I'm looking for constructive comments, proposals, remarks or suggestions.

I'm not asking whether it's plausible, because my fantasy most likely has made it implausible, but how I could make a timeline to make it a bit plausible. :D

You should be aware of the fact that some French regions are not shown because they're part of the Federation of the Low Countries (see the link in my signature for further information). Besides, some areas are given to Catalonia and the Basque Country.

Additionally, you could make a better, more detailed map which includes cities etc. for this map. I'd really appreciate that! Also, I'm looking for flag proposals for the countries - you can use wikipedia for the official flags... :p

Can you offer a general time frame for this or is that utterly open, too?

Well, my alternate history novel for which I'll most likely use it, takes place around 1800. However, there have already been some earlier PoD's; the reformation starts earlier, is different and lasts longer (and it's called the Religious Revolution), and the Industrial Revolution is different too - it is split up between an earlier Lesser Indudstrial Revolution (1598-1679) and the Later Industrial Revolution (roughly 1710-1850).

The situation of Europe around 1800 is a mixture of Medieval times (the Late Middle Ages, around 1300-1400 OTL) and the times around WWI (1900 OTL).

Is that enough information?

And I'm not sure yet what to do with the Renaissance, buy probably it will be quite earlier, around 1200 or something like that.

Gotta say, love the placement of modern nationality and construct names on an ALT. Kudos.

Also, there is a map thread for these sort of things.

You mean I should let the thread be moved, or should I post a similar post with the map at the last map thread?

EDIT: And thanks for the compliment, by the way... :D

Could you clarify what you mean by that? The social system of the middle ages, with the technology of World War I? Also people here use the  strangely, it's supposed to mean, like, sarcasm. But that's neither here now there. Okay, this doesn't quite hit your 1800 date goal, but it's close.

THE SEVEN SONS OF NAPOLEON

As the century turned, France laid under the gilded fist of the ancien regime. Neither the Religious Revolution nor the Industrial Revolution had penetrated the nation, which had slipped further and further into an embrace of the old ways. But revolution would come! As peasants fueled by reformist furor rose up, the rotten edifice of old France collapsed beneath them. A leader rose among them, a man perhaps more committed to personal power than religious purity - Napoleon Bonaparte. Declaring himself God's Right Hand, Napoleon led France to victory over its rulers, and then victory over Europe. Technologists poured into France, lured by the vast wealth offered by Napoleon. Religious righteousness mixed with powerful new technologies drove the French Crusade ever further, into the frozen den of Orthodoxy - Russia. And there, the Right Hand of God fell in battle.

And France into chaos. The seven sons of Napoleon, each claiming secular or religious heirship, warred against each other for years, turning the brutal new ways of war on one another. And in treacherous Paris, a maniac named Robespierre preaches a Second Religious Revolution, dedicated to a Cult of the Supreme Being, and against the supposed apostasy of the heirs of Napoleon. Only after bloody years of battle is an exhausted peace imposed on the lands once known as France. The seven nations of the Bonapartes - Brittany, Normandy, Champagne, Occitania, Arpitania, Savoy, and Provence - lie in an uneasy peace with the theodemocratic Republic that sits among them, plotting against one another, plotting against the nations that have seized French land, overseeing strange new industrial wonders and stranger religious innovations...

Wonderful!

Secondly, I use  indeed too often, but that's often because I don't want to use :D too much and sometimes :) just looks silly... That's why.

The social system of the middle ages, with the technology of World War I?
Good guess! Yeah, that's it, roughly. It's like a time where there indeed is the technology like in World War I. The Industrial Revolution does take place, but in two steps... and the social system etc. is more Medieval...
I'll explain more tomorrow.

A bit more information:
- The reformation starts earlier, is different and lasts longer (and it's called the Religious Revolution).
- The Industrial Revolution is different too - it is split up between an earlier Lesser Indudstrial Revolution (1598-1679) and the Later Industrial Revolution (roughly 1710-1850).
- The Renaissance takes place earlier, around 1200, and it starts in eastern Europe, in countries like Prussia, Poland, Lithuania etc.
