Alternate Führer, Duci, and other Leaders

You all know the drill, only this time apply it to fascist dictators instead of presidents or PMs. The dictatorships need not last until the present day; fascisms generally had (thankfully) short lifespans anyways.

Führer of the German Reich
1933-1940: Adolf Hitler [1]

[1] Assassinated while visiting Paris in June of 1940

In the book Fox on the Rhine, Hitler is killed by Stauffenberg's bomb in the July 20th Plot, and Hermann Goring is briefly Fuhrer until murdered by a Luftwaffe officer. Himmler then outmaneuvers or murders his rivals and takes control of the German government. His rule lasts until March 1945 when he is captured in a US commando raid in Fox at the Front, the sequel to Fox on the Rhine. During his tenure as Fuhrer, Himmler does make some decisions that Hitler would not have made, such as abandoning the "stand and die" orders so often given by Hitler to his generals, and mass-producing the Me-262 jet fighter with enough of them to make a difference when confronting the Allied bomber fleets, along with Adolf Galland becoming the head of the Luftwaffe. But Himmler's most important decision is that of when he puts Field Marshal Erwin Rommel back in command of Army Group B and the Western Front. Rommel does make some strategic moves, such as withdrawing the German 19th Army before Operation Dragoon, and shifting more troops from the Eastern Front to reinforce him in the west. But before the Battle of the Bulge, Rommel does make a change and removes SS General Sepp Dietrich from command of Sixth SS Panzer Army and puts Heinz Guderian in his place, so Sixth SS Panzer Army is renamed Sixth Panzer Army. It's an interesting concept that could really have happened if Hitler was killed during the July 20th Plot.

Rommel is far too junior in 1941 to head up the military faction.

My recommendation--change it to Ludwig Beck.

Also, allow me to state, that as they are sort of in the middle of WWII, the civil war won't last from '41-5. In fact, I'd consider it a mirarcle if it lasted to '43.

well given the chaos in 1941 would there be a Operation Barbarossa? if not the war may drag on (a civil War would make it very hard for any German government to go to war with the US)

As the civil war rages on and the allies advance at a breakneck pace Reynard Heydrich is able to play the factions against each other and gain power and quickly sue for peace against the Allies.
[5] Killed by an Anarchist
EDIT:Just realized that Civil War Germany probablly wouldn't fight against the USA, changes have been made.

[5] A smart, cunning and popular Fuhrer, that healed the wounds of the Second World War, through diplomacy so clever that it was remarkable. Died of cancer in 1977, and the entire nation mourned for him.

Duci of Italy
1922-19??: Gabriele d'Annunzio [1]

They won't throw a nuke in Rome. Ever. By that the USA became the true antricrist for any catholic. And the USA have many.

Agreed. Not only would the US enrage the Italian-American community, but also the entire Catholic community, which is the largest religious group in the United States, France, Poland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, etc... Anyone who drops the bomb is essentially the world's pariah state.

There is still residual thou weakening anticatholicism in the USA. Would they care?

They would. The US would never nuke Rome, considering...

1.) There is a neutral country in Rome, the Vatican. If you nuke Rome, you would probably kill the Pope, or take out a lot of Catholic leadership. Any proposal to nuke Rome would probably get vetoed by France as well.

2.) America, particularly the Northeast, has very, very high Catholic populations. Catholicism is the largest Christian sect in the United States. It would mean political suicide for the President, and probably a lot of civil unrest in heavily Catholic regions of the country.

3.) Rome as a city has much more historic value than the other targets. Rome was essentially the center of Western Civilization for many centuries, even a millennia. It would be more logical to nuke Genoa, Trent, Trieste, or Torino than Rome.

4.) Whomever is President just alienated just about every Italian-American for nuking Italy's capitol, every Irish-American, Italian-American, French-American, Polish-American, or any Catholic in the country, or around probably 30%-40% of the United State's population.
