Sec. Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/ Sen. Tim Kaine: (D-VA): 294 EVs
Mr. Donald Trump (R-NY)/ Gov. Mike Pence (R-IN): 244 EVs
Gov. Gary Johnson (L-NM)/ Gov. William Weld (L-MA): 0 EVs

John A. Quitman/Lewis Cass (Democratic), 81 Electoral votes, 33.9%
Millard Fillmore/Daniel Webster (Whig), 63 Electoral votes, 31.3%

The year is 1848, revolutions occur all over Europe! The US thought that they could survive, but, a new revolution occurred. But not by the bullet, but by the ballot. Zachary Taylor's death in June 1848 removed the Whig's best chance of a candidate. So, they nominated Millard Fillmore and Daniel Webster. Both of them ran a dull campaign (think of Bob Dole's 1996 campaign but even duller). The Free Soilers thought that they could have a decent shot at deadlocking the election, but, after a very energetic campaign, Van Buren/Adams won by .5% of the vote and, if any Free Soil state went to either the Democrats or Whigs, then the EC would be deadlocked. The South is pissed, and South Carolina is making plans to secede...
