Alternate Disney. (Help needed.)

He started during his time in France as an ambulance driver, and yes, he was quite a heavy smoker. It's what killed him.

in few word as any men who served in WW1, the cigar smoke was the only thing allow to tolerate the rotten bodies..... well that explain why he smoke...that is pretty sad when you think about it.:(

Hey guys. So, I know that this Timeline is over 3 years old and that I haven't been posting anything, but the creative juices are working again, and I'm going to continue this one as well. I don't know if the ones that have been following this timeline back in the day are still here, and to fully attract the new ones that might be interested in this one, I'm going to make a new, small post to attract the new ones, and draw the old ones back in. Sorry for those who might be wondering why this hasn't been uploaded again, it's just live and it's problems and such.

Once again, constructive criticism and other things are highly advised.

December 17th, 1925: Tragedy struck the Zaganov household, as the mother of Yuri and the husband of Vasiliy, Maria Zaganova, dies of a heart attack. She was 68. Yuri takes up the death like a Russian man. Saddened, but not emotionally wrecked. Walt, however, was shocked. Maria was in good health, so how could she die? It would be a mystery that would plague Disney for the rest of his life.

December 23rd, 1925: The city of Sacramento would turn out to give the mother of one of the owners of the new, growing company their last respect. To be fair, the entire town didn't turn out, but a close 3,000 people would come out and give the small burial parade their grace, as Maria was given her funeral service in a private setting. She was to be buried in the Jewish cemetery of Sacramento, as she was a devout Jew. Yuri didn't had that much time to come over his mother's death, but Disney drew a little comic to cope with the death. It was a comic depicting Buffalo Bill and Boris Ulyanka, as Sarah Marycroft's mother, a small girl that Walt and Yuri had implemented in an episode. Walt stashed away the comic in his vault later that night, only to be found 70 years later...

February 12th, 1926: Vasiliy, now a widower, didn't let the death of his wife take him down, and planned to continue the legacy of the soap factory with Elias further. He decided to put another type of soap to the roster of soap that they were making in the factory already. He had heard stories of a kind of soap that the people in the French town of Marseille used, and he was planning to make it so that Disney and him were going to bring that soap to reality! Even if it was going to fail, it would take the pain away of having lost his wife.

March 7th, 1926: Disney released the 50th Laika, The Soviet Dog cartoon. The cartoon, a shorter one as the Laika cartoons were always shorter than the Lucky, The Lucky Wolf cartoons, focused on something special. With the death of Maria Zaganova fresh in memory, did Disney decide to make a cartoon where Laika was seeing her bear friend, Vladimir, go into hibernation as winter was approaching in the forest. Of course, Laika was afraid that she wasn't going to see Vladimir again, so Vladimir assured Laika that even in the darkest nights of winter, there was always the light of spring... The voice actor of Vladimir, The Siberian Bear, Steve Urwines, gave a heartwarming performance with the very same Russian accent he had been using that Yuri Zaganov had taught him to pull off. It would become one of the most beautifullest moments in animation history, as the artistry crew of Disney and the musical composers made a visual feast and a heart stirring chorus based off of Russian folk music as Vladimir gave his speech. Eventually, the cartoon ends when Vladimir enters his cave, and waves goodbye to Laika and the crowd. And so, the cartoon ends. When the cartoon was shown in the Mann Chinese Theater again, the crowd once again gave a standing ovation at the two. Walt and Yuri even bowed for the crowd as they were clapping for ten straight minutes.

*June 2nd, 1926: At the very first Academy Awards in history, Disney would take home three Oscars. One for best Cartoon Short, One for Best Movie Music and One for Best Backgrounds. The Oscar for Best Movie went that year to The General by Clyde Burkman and Buster Keaton, making it the very first Best Film Of The Year.

* As you may wondering why I changed this date, that's because I made a little mistake. I wrote in that this happened in 1925, while the other post was in 1926! So, you can see why I made this little edit. I hope that this won't bring any further confusion.

Cool, always nice to see an old timeline return to life.

Yes. I didn't wanted to see it die. And you can make sure that it's gonna be a whole new kind of timeline than it's old one. It's gonna be a whole lot sleeker and streamlined than it used to be.

I don't want to hound, but... If you have something to add to this, feel free to say it. I won't bite.

Well I'm rereading this and a bunch of people probably thought this died so it may take a while for it to regain a following. Though I am certainly enjoying that latest update.

If things are all right, you'll be seeing a new update later tonight. I'll be making sure that Disney goes into the big leagues!

And so, as said, here's the latest update. Sorry for not having updated this one for over four years, but I kinda forgot this thing, and life got in the way and such. Hopefully this will be the start of the RP again.

September 15th, 1926:
Vasiliy Zaganov is still busy trying to get the Marseille soap back to life, but is crippling from severe health issues. The soap making isn't hard on his body, but it's the fallout when he comes back home... He begins to see that the death of his wife was much harsher than he would've thought... He drinks, eats and smokes the memories of his wife away, but what he's eating, isn't healthy to say the least. His friend, Elias, tries to help him to get over it, but it's to no use... For the time being, he's still alive, but he's gaining weight. When Elias met him back in 1904, he was 194 pounds. Now, when he was turning 65, he was a tub of lard of around 297! Doctors say to him that he won't have to life long if he keeps doing what he is doing now...

November 9th, 1926: Walt and Yuri haven't rested on their success with getting three of the first Oscars in history, and are busy making the biggest gamble their small studio has undertaken yet. The project has been covered in secrecy, and the secret is better guarded than the state secrets of the US. With that, Walt and Yuri keep close eyes on the workers of the company as well, having fired a worker on this very day. Steven Scullers, a writer on the team, was going to a dinner date with his girlfriend and his sisters to the restaurant called The Hillsman Diner, a very popular joint in Sacramento at the time. The four girls and man were having a livid conversation about what they were doing for work and other things, where Steven, having drank a couple of beers, began to tell that he was part of the Disney's Studio's. Of course, the girls were elated as he was one of the persons responsible for creating Lucky and his pals. They then began to tell that they loved Disney, and one girl even said that that Russian friend of Disney, Zaganov as she could remember, looked so dreamy... Despite that, the conversation then continued.

But, as the night went on, one asked if Disney was working on a new project. He knew that Walt and Yuri had told the company workers that absolute silence was to be upheld, that they couldn't tell the company secret to not even their wives... But, Steven, having drank too much beers at this point, told the girls that they were working on something big... Something that would shatter the world... The rest of the evening continued without any further incidents, but when Steven got back to work the next day, he was called to the office of Disney. When he entered, he got the news that he was fired. Disney didn't took kindly to loose lips, not on this gamble, he wouldn't...

Steven, however, wouldn't dissapear into the mists of history, however... He would leave his mark, but on another project...

December 25th, 1926: Vasiliy Zaganov is now hard at work finding the soap, but is fitnissing as well. During the month of October, Elias Disney had cornered Vasiliy at work, and told him an ultimatum. He had to stop eating and drinking and smoking, or otherwise Yuri would loose his last remaining parent and he would lose a friend. And he also asked him if Maria would've liked to see him die of something so lowly. Of course, he then was crying that he missed his Maria so much, that he couldn't understand why Jaweh took her and not him! He was getting to 65! He would be retiring soon! And so, Elias then calmed him down by saying that it was all right... That they both were going to retire soon, and were going to appoint some promising youngsters to follow in their footsteps. And so, he then promised to Elias and God that he would retire as a wealthy and healthy man. So, now that it was Christmas, he was celebrating it with his son at Walt's and Amanda's place. Vasiliy had returned to somewhat of his former posterior, now weighing in at 242 Pounds. Walt then told his parents that he and Yuri were planning on something big, something shocking... But, he didn't said what was coming down the pipe.

And so, with that, they all celebrated a warm, loving and happy Christmas!

February 9th, 1927: Disney/Zaganov Soap Ltd. suffers it's worst tragedy yet. In Utrecht, the Dutch holding, there was an accident. In the early hours of February 9th, 1927, there was a fire in the animal fat storage room, and the firemen were trying desperately to control the flames. However, the fire was gaining momentum fast, and before they knew it, it then crossed into the vegetable oil vats. The firemen try to control the flames as well, but then the heat grows and it's all too late. The resulting explosion then caused a shock wave, big enough to destroy all surrounding buildings in a 100 yard vicinity. The eventual toll? Over 1,200 people dead and two times more wounded. The investigation then found out that the fire was caused due to a couple of workers were smoking a cigarette on a break. They didn't stamped the fire out good enough, and so, with that, it then sparked a small fire in the animal fat storage room. Because the owners of the factory weren't in code with the Dutch Safety Regulations of the time, the fire wasn't put down via the automatic watering systems and the fire could go rampant. Elias and Vasiliy were cut free, but the one that was devastated the most, wasn't Vasiliy, but Elias.

He had gotten the ownership of the factory because he worked good enough, and that the previous owners were getting old. He had always made sure that all of his factories were up and clear with the regulations in every country, and in Utrecht, he wasn't. And those things caused the biggest disaster in the Netherlands yet! He couldn't get over it, and went through a deep depression that looked endless..

April 2nd, 1927: The Chinese Mann Theater was rampant and busy this cold April night again, because Walt and Yuri finally revealed their secret project they've been talking about in mystery and shrouds for the whole year now. And the theater was in controlled chaos as they were greeted by hostesses and other members of the Hollywood Chiq. After a quick interview with Walt and Yuri, they then walked over to the main hall, and then it was revealed. Walt simply said, before the movie was to begin, that this wasn't just any normal cartoon that he and Zaganov were working on.No, this one was far more bigger. He and Yuri had been working on an actual movie! The first animated movie! The crowd gasped, this couldn't be! Disney then quelled the crowd, telling a story. He always wanted to make an full on animated movie from the very first moment that he was making comics with his friend. So, with that, he and his friend were working on this plan for over a year. They were originally planning to have this movie come out on March 30th, his birthday, but that couldn't go through, as the theater wasn't free on that day. So, with that, he then told the crowd to enjoy the movie. A applause then came from the crowd, and the movie started.

That was how the first screening of Disney's first real film went through. And it was an instant success, as all his films were. The next day, all the papers were writing reviews over the movie, and so, Reynard And The Magic Voyage went on all over the country, and all over the world. Reynard And The Magic Voyage was based off the old Medieval folk tales of Reynard the Fox. In this movie, we meet Reynard and his plucky band of fellow thieves and vagrants. But, instead of being villains, they stole from the rich, and gave to the poor. But, in this movie, they then robbed the wrong person at a point in the beginning. They stole the money of the villain of the movie Sergeant de Montelpuy, the captain of the Royal Guard and an evil German Shepherd. He was an evil man, not too keen on killing persons for his own gains and stealing from the poor as well, as there were scenes in the movie where he stole from a blind beggar and laughed in his face, saying 'I would 'Watch Out' for thieves, Blind Man! They steal you when you're 'Not Looking'.' And so, when Reynard and his men stole from him, he wanted nothing more than to see Reynard hang for his crimes. But, the nun of the castle, Madame De Sacrecoeur, a vixen, wanted Reynard and his men repent for his crimes, and save his life. Reynard then asked, 'What do I have to do, oh fair lady?' For which she then said that he and his men had to take a pilgrimage to Rome, to meet the Pope and ask for forgiveness. He would forgive him of his sins. And so, that's what he then did with his men. Setting out for Rome. Of course, Sergeant de Montelpuy didn't wanted this to happen, so, he and HIS men were following Reynard to make sure 'that he would never get to Rome'... These scenes were wonderful as Reynard traveled through the entirety of Europe, and helping people along the way. But, there were also tense and creepy scenes with Sergeant de Montelpuy, such as where Reynard had to cross a bridge, but where Sergeant de Montelpuy's men had cut the bridge so that when one would step onto it, it would collapse and taking the traveler to an terrible demise into the valley. But, Reynard saw this, and with the faith of God,- and a quick adjustment with some rope he had gotten from a baker -they could safely cross.

The movie then reached to a tense climax, when Reynard was reaching Rome, but just before he could enter the gates of the Eternal City, he was captured by Sergeant de Montelpuy who then decided that he would hang him himself! Sergeant de Montelpuy had gone insane from all the attempts on Reynard's life, and that all of them had failed. He then decided that he would do the job himself, which then results in a battle where Reynard and Sergeant de Montelpuy fight it out with swords during a thunderstorm. The tree where Sergeant de Montelpuy wants to hang Reynard then catches fire, and Reynard is then pushed to the tree. There is then a creepy shot where Sergeant de Montelpuy looks to a cornered Reynard with an insane grin, lighted by the fire, where he insanely uttered, 'Any last words, Reynard?!' To which he then says, 'That you may burn in Hell for YOUR sins!' And he then pushed Sergeant de Montelpuy into the fire of the tree. You don't see him burn to death, you only see that he's pushed into the fire, and that he then screams from the pain. And the scene then ends as the thunder ends, and the rain comes, dousing the fire. Reynard's men then come to check if he's all right, by which he then laughs, saying the iconic line of the movie. 'Rejoice, my friends! For we have struck on riches!' And they then walk over to Rome, where Reynard then meets the pope, and, to his surprise, stands Madame Se Sacrecoer! The Pope forgives him of his and his men's sins, and tells him that he is a free man now. He takes Madame De Sacrecoer in his arms, and he, Madame De Sacrecoer and his men walk outside of the church, into the sunset, under loud cheers of the people of Rome, and so, with the iconic song, The Voyage Is Long and Wonderful, the movie ends.

Walt and Disney go under the biggest standing ovation they have ever received up to that point!

Looking great! Sad to see such tragedies happen to Yuri's family though. I wonder what effect this will have on him growing up.

Also, I've forgotten, how old are Walt and Yuri at this time?

Oh shoot, just realized that Walt 'n' Yuri's first animated movie is 10 years earlier than OTL's first animated movie! Nice detail.

This film was a rather Christian one, specifically a Catholic-friendly one. What with Reynard being told he had to seek forgiveness with the Pope. How would that go over with the United States at this time? I thought the United States at this time was quite anti-catholic at this time? Also if Madame De Sacrecoer was a Nun, and Reynard took her into his arms, wouldn't that imply the Madame breaking her vows as a Nun? (Then again, I'm not really privy to how Catholicism works).

So their first movie was based on Reynard the Fox? Neat. I was kinda hoping for a more faithful adaption that was more true to Reynard's nature as an uncouth opportunist and thief, though I'd doubt that would go over well in late 1920's to early 1930's America, especially when in one of Reynard's tales a priest gets his balls bitten off by a cat.

Are Walt and Yuri going to make more animated films? If so, based on more European folktales? (Sleeping Beauty, Snow White...)

Also, is Fleischer Studios still in business? Are they gonna be rivals in the emerging animation industry with Walt and Yuri?

I'm not entirely sure, but then again, your comment is precisely the thing that I'm asking about in terms of this timeline.

Fleischer Studios? I don't know. I don't really have plans to do anything with the other film studios as this timeline primarily focuses on Disney. Also, I don't know if the Americans were anti-catholic back in the day, and this movie was more or less meant to be a take on the OTL stories, and I wanted to give it a Disney twists since Walt was planning to do a movie about Reynard IRL as well, but it never came onto something. Also, as you may have noticed, Disney ITTL is already going on a more animal-based rout, so I wanted to make a different start then the usual Snow White start.

Also, as you may have noticed the fight between Reynard and Sergeant De Montelpuy is also a typical Disney staple as you always have the end battle between good and evil. I wanted to get that Disney trope ITTL as well. I will see what I can do in the future wit the RP, and thank you for the nice comments.

Oh, and the part with Madamme De Sacrecoer going with Reynard in the end? That's just typical Disney as well. Always with the happy end, and that the hero gets the girl in the end. I may have forgotten to write it down, but in the movie it's clear that the two have a growing love relation just like OTL Robin Hood and Maid Marian, only in this part did the Pope give the couple his grace.

And yes, Walt and Yuri are going to make more animated movies after this one, you can be sure of that! And, perhaps, you will see a ITTL Snow White as well, who knows...?

Hold your horses!

Considering that during John F. Kennedy's run for president had his being a Catholic be an issue in 1960, then I do believe that the United States was anti-catholic for a long time. I don't know how much of an effect this would have on Walt and Yuri's movies though.

So Walt's following a more animal-based route? I guess this would mean more animal-centric folktales then. Maybe more spread across Europe, like ones from Ireland like The Children of Lir.

Are Walt and Yuri's movies always going to be kid friendly? Are they ever gonna do movies like Watership Down? If they get more faithful to the folktales they work with then those movies will definitely get darker.

That said, I can't wait to see more of this timeline come forth. It's looking great!

Thanks for your kind words. And thanks for the info on the Christian stance in the US at that time. I really didn't knew that there was an anti-catholic movement back then. I will work this thing out in future updates. You haven't seen the last about Elias and Vasiliy, either. Their little soap factory isn't the last thing that they are going to work with before they die... Nor have we seen the end of Walt and Yuri's business ventures, either...

Also, I'm not sure if I'm going to make it so that Disney's gonna make Watership Down buut I can see if I'm gonna do something about Plague Dogs, though... Also, The Children Of Lir? We'll see about that... I'll be searching for other folk stories, anyways... I can safely say that there are going to be movies that depict Aesop's Tales, as the Second World War will be happening in this TL as well, although I'm not going to say when, of course... But, rest assure, there's gonna be more in the near future. I'm getting the hang of it again, and I'm happy to have such great feedback from you. Thanks that you like the reincarnation of this little TL. To be honest, I was afraid that this was going to die a second death, right after it came back. Also, I couldn't reply because I was at work today, and I was just going to start with my work day.

Keep it up with the feedback, and thank you for it. Thank you kindly!
