What alternate names for Communist parties/republics can you come up with? I'm particularly interested in ones for Hungary.

EDIT: I mean apart from the old x Soviet Socialist Republic or x Soviet Republic or even x Socialist Republic.

The peoples democratic republican socialist hodgepodge of mixed ethnic diversities brought under something we want to call communism but well really isn't and is run by a brutal warlord dictator dude who will make us worship him as a god as we slave for him in eternal serfdom.:D

PS that's the national anthem too :)

Nice thoughts. How about this one for an alt-Hungary state (including autonomous minority republics):

The Collective of Bélaist Proletarian Republics.

In my Ancients Return the communists in the Balkans and the Ukraine refer to their states as Proletarian Dictatorships. It's not what Marx meant with the term, but they use it none the less. Their country is called the Union of Proletarian States.

And to take something further...

Remember that the word "Soviet" itself means "a council" with socialist connotations, so you could have the Union of People's Republican Councils as an alternative, looser Soviet Union.

People's Republic of Serbian Workers and Peasants, for a Svetozar Markovic's led Socialist Serbia under the patronage of the original People's Radical Party.

Democratic People's State of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, for a Commie partition of Yugoslavia including Croatia, Slovenia and most of Bosnia.

People's Federal Republic of Banatia, for a German-Hungarian socialist republic in Banat, Baranja and Vojvodina.

Union of Transdanubian Socialist Republics, for an Austromarxist Austria - Belaist Hungary- puppet Romania union.

Federation of Severoslavian Socialist Republics, for a union between rump congress Poland, Lithuanian-Belarusian, and Czech, Morav and Slovak-Transcarpathian socialist republics !

Kingdom of the Ukrainian Workers and Peasants, for a Ukrainian kingdom under the wonderful "Red Habsburg" whose name now escapes me :D

I think that's the one I want. I'm aiming for this sort of a scenario:

Horthay takes power immediately after a (delayed) Hungarian independence.

Horthay subdugates various people, conquers a bit of land from neighbours etc.

Horthay assassinated, communists take charge, have to give some concessions to ethnic groups, formation of UTSR/UTBR/UTBSR (Belaist instead of Socialist). Individual states go as xBSR/xBR, followed by spread in Balkans.
