Alternate Colonials

What other possible colonial powers could there've been, and what effect would more of these colonies and colonials have had?

Possibly an earlier unified Germany?, more successful Dutch and Swedish colonies which for whatever reason are not taken over by the British?.

In terms of North America, There wouldnt be a United States- at least not one we'd recognise...

Those are a couple of suggestions, their are other people on the forum who can elaborate on this far better then i can.

Here's a far-fetched North America one:
The Prince Regent (future George IV) gives his daughter Charlotte and her husband Leopold the Crown Colony of New Foundland (or Bermuda or the Bahamas) as a wedding present. When she dies in 1817, he inherits the property. So, when Leopold becomes King of the Belgians the colony becomes a possession of Belgium (technically a personal possession of the King of Belgium).

Given that the thread title is alternate colonials, I'd say have more immigrants to New Sweden, possibly spreading to all of the Delaware Peninsula. Britain still comes to control the colony, as per OTL, but stronger Swedish presence leads to a somewhat similar deal with the Swedes as the Germans and French. I don't think that would butterfly the American Revolution (certainly wouldn't touch its root causes), but it's be interesting to which side the Swedes join, and its long term impact.

Maybe some sort of Amish analogue (not in their unique social aspect)?

Not so sure the Swedes had any "available" population at the time. All Nordic countries vere devastated after the Black Death, and realy did not have any population surplus until 19th century. :)

Nor were there any serious religous persecution neither. :)

They didn't to, if the Swedes could keep the dutch out, the colony could survive until the British takes it over, maybe in the early 18th century or as late as the seven years war, that would give them time to dominate the Delaware peninsula through birthrates (like the Afrikaans did in the Cape), it could even create a permanent linguistic minority.
