Alternate Cold War Ideologies

I find the idea of an alternate Cold War - a decades-long conflict between two rival superpowers - quite intriguing. But instead of the traditional dichotomies between communism and capitalism or authoritarianism vs. libertarianism, what other rival ideologies could divide the world into 2 camps? I had a few ideas, but I'd really like to hear yours.

1. Rationalism vs. Romaticism. On one side of the Cold War, you have the Rationals, who consider religion and monarchy a thing of the past. They are democratic and capitalist in name, but the government keeps a close eye on everyone. They operate under the assumption that money is the driving force behind nearly all aspects of society.

On the other side, the Romantics despise the cold-hearted, calculating Rationals and consider themselves the true defenders of the human spirit. They place great emphasis on honor, loyalty, and courtesy. If they feel that you have wronged them, they are likely to seek revenge.

2. Satisfaction vs. Restraint. On one side are the Satisfactionists, or Pleasure-seekers, who take the phrase "pursuit of happiness" quite seriously. They believe that no authority should have the power to dictate one's personal tastes or hobbies - but many of them, unfortunately, don't seem to mind if these hobbies have destructive effects on others. They have somewhat of an "everyman for himself" approach to economics and war.

The Restrained, the other power bloc, believe that self-discipline is the path toward perfection. Their government, in theory, is supposed to be an intricate system of checks and balances where everyone has rights and responsibilities, ruled by an ethic of "duty to one's fellow man." In practice, however, they're rarely more than a few steps away from totalitarianism.

Vangardism

It's basically Fanatical Futurist National Menshevist Ultra-militarism with appreciation for Russia's romanticized agro-communalism. It originates in Russia, espouses to drag the society forward through militarization of society to unite middle class, urban workers and peasantry in the struggle for nation building. It's straightforwardly honest about being military dictatorship, arguing that military is the key to progress and equality, and that intellectual soldiers are the best choice for decision makers.

Arrayed against it are an alliance of nations which stand for separation between military and political process. Not sure about the bloc's name yet.

After some rethinking, that would be plain and uninteresting. The main beef is not only about militarism, but also class struggle after all, as well as about question over progress and the future. The alliance will consist of not only civilian democracies, but also various rightist/conservative dictatorships, including those dominated by military and perhaps even a leftist or two which differs about how to achieve equality/socialism etc. But I can see how the ultra-militarism bit will become the main bogeyman.

communism vs fascism considering that these two ideologies are on opposite sides of the spectrum, it would be very interesting, and most likely alot more violent (though not enough to cause the war to go hot).

Democracy vs. Oligarchy

Imagine a backward nation, like e. g. 19th century Russia dominated by a little caste of rich people with an indoctrinated middle class and an oppressed peasantry vs. a democratic country with a direct democratic constitution - one could imagine France in this position.

The two fight wars directly and through proxies and try to install their system in other countries. Mainly a giant modern Peloponnesian War on a worldwide basis. Great Britain play the role of Persia, funding the loosing side to prevent a victory of one of the two ideologies.

After some decades of fighting, the democratic demagogues have either destroyed the French army or the Russian oligarchy was overthrown by a peasant's rebellion.
