In honor of Holy Thursday, one of the most overlooked of holidays. ;)

OTL Catholic/Orthodox Church preserves seven major Sacraments or Sacred Mysteries:

1. Eucharist/Communion – the biggie, the central ritual in Christianity in which God is consumed in a sacred meal (pretty awesome);
2. Baptism – the lesser but still pretty big biggie, necessary for salvation (nice, mystical, elemental, watery);
3. Chrismation/Confirmation – imparting of the Holy Spirit (okay, the Holy Spirit imprinting Himself on your immortal soul is great, but chrism? RLY? not very dramatic);
4. Confession – (boring!)
5. Extreme Unction – (also boring, just a space filler to get to 7 methinks)
6. Matrimony – (meh)
7. Holy Orders – (yawn)

I always thought it was a pretty limited roster. Communion is the only one that is a real, bona fide ritual involving bells and incense and bowing and what not that takes place in public, for the general congregation of the initiated, on a routine basis.

What can you imagine as alternate or additional or improved Christian Sacraments/Mysteries?

The Valentinians and other Gnostics had most of the orthodox sacraments with the addition of something called "The Bridal Chamber," which certainly sounds sexy but it is unclear what it actually entailed.
