Alternate Casting Decisions

I can't really imagine anybody but Burr for Ironside, but was anybody else considered? William Devane might have been interesting...

Thinking of that, what about somebody else for Eve Whitfield, instead of Barbara Anderson? Sally Stuthers, maybe? (I know, most of Eve's problems were from bad writing...)

And what about a different voice for Charlie Townsend? Or for Robin Masters?

Timothy Dalton was originally offered the James Bond role as early as On Her Majesty's Secret Service but turned it down because he thought he was too young and again in the early 80s but turned down again because he didn't like the direction the series took.
What all the people who bemoan the idea of Frank Sinatra as Dirty Harry miss is that the film's lineup originally came complete with another director:

So... I'm thinkin' it may not have turned out half as badly as you guys are envisioning. ;)
Yes, but be also made Robocop 2 and Never Say Never Again.

How about Michael Caine for Robin Master's voice?
Given the character, he'd have to have an American accent, wouldn't he? (Since he's not Higgins, contrary to what the finals season of "Magnum" suggests...)

What about a B-movie actor whose voice a lot of people would recognize, but nobody could put a face to?;) (IDK who, tho...:eek:)

That brings up one -- I wish they had chosen someone else (almost anyone else) to play Lee in Gettysburg other than Martin Sheen. I just didn't think it suited him and, mentally, he didn't seem like a good fit.

WHAT?

He did better than Duvall. He was perfect for lee. Hell, even the cast and extras thought he did an awesome job as lee.

If you remember the part where Lee rides up to the line of soldiers and they all surround him cheering "Lee" they are infact cheering "Martin Sheen" because they all loved his performance.

EDIT: why do you write your answer before the actual post you are replying to?

Orson Welles was the original and very distinctive voice of Masters; but then he passed away in 1985. How about the distinctive voice(s) of John Huston, John Carradine, or William Conrad? With those three gentlemen, there was also a implied subtext of danger - in keeping with Master's backstory. Or, going for someone younger(in the1980's); how about James Coburn?

Ah, Jodorowsky's Dune. The holy grail of never made movies. The only problem is, it would've been 14 hours long, and Salvador Dali would have been in it, as both himself and played by a ROBOT! (He would've played His Most Sublime Majesty, the Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV. I'm a big Dune fan.)

How about Lewis Collins (The Professionals) as James Bond after Roger Moore's stint?

He did screen test for the role but was refused on account of his angst, aggressive portrayal.

Low and behold 20 years later, Daniel Craig played the role exactly how Collins would have done it.

If think Collins would've made a good Bond instead of Dalton.

I've heard Orson was the voice, but wasn't sure. Any one of your choices is good, except for (perhaps) the "Charlie Townsend problem": they may be too readily identified.

I loved him in "The Professionals" & IMO he'd have been a better, edgier Bond than either Brosnan or Dalton, while having the same cool (IMO) Brosnan brought to it.

I've got a list of roles that the late, great Christopher Lee was in the running for.
  1. Doctor Rumack (Leslie Nielsen's character from Airplane)
  2. Grand Moff Tarkin (He was the one who suggested Peter Cushing)
  3. Albus Dumbledore (Tell me he wouldn't at least be interesting in the role)

Didn't Lee also want to play Gandalf rather than Saruman in the LOTR series?
