Try to progressively forward in the timeline with your character (so don't have character from the 50-60-70-80-90 and our time right now)

Franklin Roosevelt: First president of the Empire State from 1930 to 1935, he was highly critical of the Federal goverment lack of involment to solve the depression and decided to follow the secessionist movement exciting the United States in 1930. He quickly organised a major conference between with his neighboring states hoping to rally the maximum number of states around New York, however the New England States refused to join the Empire States, but he was sucessful to bring Pensylvannia and New Jersey in it.

Despiste the initial set back, he managed to pull the Empire State out of the depression, however the state was plague with rivality with Dixie, the industrial states and Hollywood. He was however able to build neutrality and with the states around the Empire States and good relationship with Europe.

Rising health concern lead him to quit his post as president, leaving the democrat leaderless, the republican won the following election with Fiorello H. La Guardia, Thomas Dewey put Roosevelt on the Empire state 20 dollar bill

(amusingly enough I "it was we had nothing to fear" skit of robot chicken was showing when I finish to write the Roosevelt entry)

Adolf Hitler: Chancelor of Germany from 1933 to 1939, he lead Germany with a Iron fist and led a serie of repression against the Jews and agressive foreing policy that sought the expansion of the country, however he was met with stark opposition from France and the United Kingdom. After a diplomatic Meltdown a two years war folllowed that led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. .

The Suedete war brought a great importance to aviation to the Europeans powers. Airplane battle and Zepplin being a common sight over the french alps for all the duration of the conflict. Most of the ground conflict happening in Czechoslovakia and Southern Germany but with Air Raid arriving in virtually every city and Air transport being used by UK and France for troops.

Germany sought surrender after the death of Hitler when his airship the Hindenburg II was destroyed by the RAF (along with several other major Nazi head of states). He is still use nowaday as an exemple of particulary belicose and opressive but to a lesser degree than Stalin, however Nazi archive proved that Hitler could have led to the death of millions if more sucessful . Unlike WWI Germany was not given harsh peace term, the treaty of Munich being a founding stone of the Germany-UK-France bloc against the Soviet Union.

Grantsville Brothers

Makers of the unsung "GeeBee" F-2 escort fighter, which gained a standing in its home Maritime Provinces and (to a lesser extent) around the continent as a fast, manueverable, and (most critically) light escort plane, targeting a similar nitch to that of the Colt Peacemaker. Because of its small size and mass, the F-2 could be carried in higher numbers in the same space with the same cargo penalties to the mothership, or carried in the same quantities in signifigantly less space.

However, as the detractor's nickname"the Fireball" indicates, it was a tough plane to handle. It relied on speed and manueverablity rather than heavy armarment (most carried only twin 40 caliber cannon, and either drop tanks or rocket pods on the two standard pylons), and was such a touchy bird that inexperienced pilots would all-too-often lose control and crash during their first combat--into the ground, into zeppelins, and into each other. As better planes for the light escort role (more heavily armed and far more stable) became more common, the F-2 slipped back into anonymity, a teardrop fueselage auggering into the dustbin of history.
