I've been looking at British, Japanese and German battleship designs lately, even outlandish ones, and no one ever seems to design a battleship with three forward turrets capable of firing forward in line. Think of if the Nelson and Rodney had there number 3 turret one level higher than number 2 instead of back down at the level of number 1.
Was this an impossibility because of hoists and machinery? Or would recoil that high up cause too much strain?
