Description:
Considered one of the greatest if not the greatest rock bands of the 1970s. It was formed in 1971 by former Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Harrison and Starr were joined by two new members Jim Pons (formerly of The Turtles, notable for being the band's sole American member) and Nicky Hopkins to be the bassist and keyboardist respectively. Shortly thereafter, Harrison recruited his (then) good friend (and unbeknownst to him his wife's lover :p) Eric Clapton to be the band's lead guitarist. The five-member band soon experienced worldwide game and had many hits. They were very versatile and were notable for experimenting with various styles of music throughout their existence. They broke up six years after their formation in 1977 partly because of Harrison's wife professing her love for Clapton :p However in 1985, the two men resolved their differences and Karma reformed though solely for touring purposes. They permanently split following the death of keyboardist Nicky Hopkins in 1994. Karma has many enthusiastic fans to this day (a cult-following if you must call it that), some people considering them a continuation of the Beatles or even (blasphemously) *better* than the Fab Four. Nevertheless they are inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame, overplayed on classic rock stations and considered an icon of seventies music.

H.E.L.P.

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer tried to get Jimi Hendrix to join them. Considering the different styles of music they did it probably wouldn't have worked out for long.
