Alternate American Presidents Lists Thread

Here are some Presidential Lists from potential TL's and TL ideas I've had, that I'm hoping to do someday. I'm posting them here now because some of the ideas here have been gotten to first by other TL's. I'm always a little disappointed when that happens. So, here they are! :)

Point of Divergence being that President Wilson's Col. House convinces the Assistant Secretary of War to stay on in 1916, after Secretary Garrison resigns, due to the feeling that the Department of War can't afford to lose its #1 and #2 man with the threat of War going on. Henry S Breckenridge goes on to serve the post for another year, before he resigns to lead a Battalion in the Great War. After that, he launches a political career that leads to the Senate, and then the White House.

28. (Thomas) Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921)
29. Warren G. Harding (1921-1925) [1]
30. Herbert C. Hoover (1925-1933)
31. Henry S. Beckenridge (1933-1941)
32. James N. Gardner (1941-1945)
33. Wendell Willkie (1945) [2]
34. Fiorello H. La Guardia (1945-1947) [2]
35. Joseph W. Martin Jr (1947-1949) [3]

[1]- Does not die after his trip to Alaska but as his administrations various scandals grow, he loses the renomination of the GOP at the '24 Convention
[2] Dies in Office
[3] Speaker of the House, takes office due to La Guardia's VP being vacant.

POD: Al Gore wins the 2000 Presidential Election

Al Gore(D): 2001-2004
John McCain(R): 2005-2008
?(?): 2009-Present

The "current" president depends largely on whether McCains two-term presidency was viewed favorably or not, and whether the GOP can find someone to run against Hillary (I am not sure whether this butterflies away Obama).

From "Lone Star Republic Stillborn" where the Texas Revolution fails miserably, plus lots of untimely deaths...

Henry Clay (W-KY) 1845-1849
Silas Wright (D-NY) 1849-1854 [1]
William King (D-AL) 1854 [2]
David Atchison (D-MS) 1854-1857 [3]
Andrew Jackson Donelson (A-TN) 1857-1861 [4]

Edward Everett (R-MO) 1862-1864 [6]
Solomon Foot (R-VT) 1864 [7]
Hannibal Hamlin (R-ME) 1865-1873
Cassius Marcellus Clay (R-KY) 1873-1881

[1] Dies 7th April
[2] Dies 1st December
[3] Pres Pro Tem Elevated
[4] Elected in House by loose alliance of Americanists, Republicans, Whigs
[5] Dies 9th November
[6] Dies 3rd March
[7] Pres Pro Tem Elevated; an amendment requiring that the Pres nominate a new VP when a vacancy occurs finally passes...

From "Republicans, Democrats, and Populists, Oh My!" where Tilden wins in 1876 without controversy and an eventual end to the Electoral College

Samuel Tilden (D-NY) 1877-1885
Grover Cleveland (D-NY) 1885-1893
David Hill (D-NY) 1893-1897 [1]
William McKinley (R-OH) 1897-1905
Philander Knox (R-PA) 1905-1913
Ignatius Klee (P-MO) 1913-1917 [2]
Charles Hughes (R-NY) 1917-1921 [2]
Joseph Socrates (P-RI) 1921-1929 [3]

[1] Chosen by House after Populists hit the scene
[2] Klee is a fictional character; both him and Hughes are selected through the House, despite coming in second place in EVs and pop votes, by Democrat shenanigans designed to keep the parties off balance
[3] Again fictional  and again winning 2nd place in the national vote; I haven't done a lot of research yet for obscure OTL people plus I think the butterfly effect could be in force. Anyways, in 1923 an Amendment is passed abolishing the Electoral College to stop the Democrat shenanigans

I haven't really planned out much of the mysterious TL that I'm working on, so this is largely just abstraction.

1. George Washington (I), 1789-1797
2. John Adams (F), 1797-1801
3. Thomas Jefferson (R), 1801-1809[1]
4. James Madison (R), 1809-1813[2]
5. Alexander Hamilton (HF), 1813-1818[3]
6. Aaron Burr (F), 1818-1825
7. John Quincy Adams (F), 1825-1829
8. Andrew Jackson (R), 1829-1841[4]
9. Henry Clay (HF), 1841-1849[5]

[1] Election of 1804 decided by the House. Burr had been dispossessed by the Democratic-Republican Party, after being replaced as Jefferson's running mate. The events of OTL in the election of 1800 never occurred. He runs for president as the candidate of the Federalist Party, now controlled by moderates after the departure of the High Federalists.
[2] Decided by the House.
[3] Assassinated.
[4] First president to serve more than two terms. Republican Party splits over the Nullification Crisis.
[5] Federalist Party does not nominate a candidate, and instead endorses the candidate of the moderate Republican Party.

I made this list for a DBWI.POD is Gerald Ford winning re-election.

(R) Gerald Ford,1974-1981
(D) Jerry Brown,1981-1989
(D) Mario Cuomo,1989-1993
(R) Jack Kemp,1993-2001
(R) John McCain,2001-2005
(D) Howard Dean,2005-2009
(R) Mitt Romney,2009-present

Here's a timeline, done right here and now:

United Kingdom of America
- It's been done slightly in this thread, and I'm sure tons of time other places, but as in the old wives' tale, they offer Washington a monarchy instead of Presidency (constitutional monarchy, though), and he accepts for some reason.
  1. King Augustine - 1789-1799 (named himself after his father, as "King George" is still unpopular), followed by a 1799-1800 secession crisis, as "King Augustine" left no heirs. Eventually he's succeeded by:
  2. King John I - 1800-1826, father of
  3. King John II Quincy - 1826-1848, father of
  4. King Charles I Francis - 1848-1886, father of
  5. King John III Quincy - 1886-1894, father of
  6. King George Caspar- 1894-1900 - dies childless, succession passes to his brother, who is
  7. King Charles II Francis - 1900-1954, father of
  8. King Charles III Francis - 1954-1999, father of
  9. King Charles IV Francis - 1999-Present (I think Charles Francis Adams V is still alive)

Of course, that makes little sense as butterflies would've killed Charles I Francis onwards, and they likely wouldn't all diie the same ways and time as in OTL. Like the UK of Britain and Northern Ireland, we've both had 9 monarchs since 1789.

Recently, I found myself fascinated with alternate American Presidents so I decided to create this thread. This is where random lists of alternate American Presidents are to be complied. Lists can have a POD anytime after the foundation of the USA, before or after 1900. Alternate Presidents can be historical or fictional, if they are fictional, please mention it. Each post is independent of another and if possible, give a short description of the TL or any significant Alternate President within the list. I'll start (Don't ask me to go into detail for this is very random);

POD: America doesn't enter WW1 but the CP's still loose

1913-1917: Woodrow Wilson (D)
1917-1925: Charles Evan Hughes (R)
1925-1929: Herbert Hoover (R)
1929-1933: Charles G. Dawes (R)
1933-1945: Albert B. "Happy" Chandler (D)[1]
1945-1953: Fred M. Vinson (D)
1953-1961: George Marshall (R)[2]
1961-1969: Joseph P. Kennedy (D)
1969-1973: Robert Stafford (R)
1973-1981: Spiro Agnew (D)
1981-1989: Henry Kissinger (R)
1989-1997: Charlton Heston (R)[3]
1997-2002: Fredrick Charles Nakamura (D)[4]
2002-2008: Shirley C. Franklin (D)[5]

[1] known as the "Smiling President", first President to be in office for three terms (like FDR)
[2] Hero of the Soviet War, lives two years longer than OTL
[3] I decided to replace Ronald Reagan with another actor.
[4] (fictional) first Asian-American President (of Japanese descent), assassinated in 2002
[5] Vice President of Nakamura, first Female & African-American President

Chandler was only 35 in 1933 and he didn't become Governor of Kentucky until 1935 so he would be unlikely to become president so early.

Worse yet, his 35th birthday was July 14th, 1933, so he'd be ineligible for the Presidency on March 4th (Inauguration Day), unless they changed the Consitution which doesn't seem to match that timeline.

Good catch.

For my Laurens Lives TL (see sig)

This is preliminary but What I will probably go with.

1. George Washington (I) 1789-1796
2. John Jay (F) 1796-1800
3. Thomas Jefferson (D-R) 1800-1804
4. John Laurens (F) 1804-1812
5. James Madison (D-R) 1812-1816
6. Alexander Hamilton (F) 1816-1818 [1]
7. Andrew Jackson (F) 1818-1828 [2]

1. Assasinated
2. Hamilton's Vice President

I corrected it way back in post #17, you would have seen it if you had maybe scrolled down a bit to the bottom of the page.

Small correction:
