I'm doing this alternate American timeline as you can see down in my sig. And I'm curious of how it could expand. While I'm aiming for the largest possible Ameriwank, it would not be on the case of America covering half the world or something. Though we don't know about that. I've seen some ideas from other timelines about how the United States got or could have gotten this place or that but I guess no one has done this before, The idea that the United States could establish a sort of an equivalent of the British East India Company.
Now, I've already made inquiries about this idea in this thread. However, some may have thought that it's an entirely import-export trading company for ALL overseas trade. But no, I'm thinking of a Far East trading company that New England merchants might establish.
I'll ask this again. With "Manifest Destiny" hatched far earlier than usual (1801) and without the burden of slavery (national gradual manumission from 1800 to 1830) plus having the Federalists dominate national politics (until an alternate Andrew Jackson who is a moderate Federalist in my TL); Is the idea that a joint stock company for the Orient be established by some New England merchants with support of a Federalist administration in the 1800's seems too farfetched?? This is like establishing the Bank of the United States kind of thing.
I'm seeing the possibility that this company will get some fiery opposition based on the principles of adopting British methods or big government tyranny but how about this is supplemented by purchasing the New Spain provinces of Alta California, New Mexico and Texas as well as finally deciding the Oregon Country boundaries with the British to silence the opposition?
I don't know if the French Revolutionary/Napoleonic Wars will still go the way of France invading Spain in 1808 but America is pretty much tied with Britain after 1801 (military alliance, commercial partnership).
I don't know. What I really want to know is the feasibility of a United States overseas trading company for the Asian trade, given the conditions of Federalist dominance and the earlier hatching of Manifest Destiny.
