Alternate 1905 Revolution

What would happen to Russia had the opposition groups managed to oust the Tsar.

The POD is that the Russo-Japanese War carries on for longer. The Japanese are exhausted, but still manage to humiliate the Russian a little bit more, like a Russian counter attack against Mukden fails horribly. The war ends in mid 1906 with the Treaty of Portsmouth; however it is more in the Japanese favor than in OTL, as the Russians were panicking after the Second Battle of Mukden and the revolution starting.

Because the Russian Army is away for longer, the opposition groups manage to gather more support before the army begins to crack down on them. A united march to the Winter Palace manages to force the Tsar to abdicate, having overpowered his guards. The Tsar flees to Britain, while the various groups set up a new government.

My question is: What would happen next?
  • Would the new government have to face the Army, who are still loyal to the Tsar, albeit less so than in OTL?

  • Would the various factions disagree over the future of Russia and descend into an earlier civil war, and if so, who would likely win?

I think the 1905 revolution reached maximium results, there was no way the Czar would have given more, and the revolutionaries would have no chance against the army in the long run. Also, very few of the revolutionaries wanted to dissolve the monarchy (the socialists wanted of course).

I doubt even if this could happen the Tsar would flee to Britain. As far as I can see here the revolutionaries are extending power over a minimal area, and the Tsar would most likely just flee to somewhere else in Russia and then take back St Petersburg when the time's ready.
