Altaic Cultural Domination?

You have a point, but really, in the long run, Arab or Chinese culture has taken root amongst the Altaic people. A more unified Gokturk empire would have been interesting. As I noted previously, they fractured due to internal disputes and military setbacks. Now the question is *HOW* would the Gokturk Khanate stay unified and dominant?
One problem with the Gokturks: by the 600s and 700s they had a large Chinese population, who were a significant part of the aristocracy. So by your definition they are not pure Altaic.

In any case, nomadic empires like that don't have a very long lifespan...
There were some battles where the Umayyads beat the Gokturks in ~715. Maybe have the Gokturks win those battles, which would leave them in a stronger position. Barring ASB intervention, the state wouldn't last beyond 1000 , I doubt.

So were the Romans not Indo-European after they adopted Christianity?
Just because they are Muslim does not mean they are no longer Altaic. By that logic, there are pretty much no Indo-Europeans, no Semitics, etc.

But if you are going for a pagan Turkic empire, why not the Gokturks?

The difference here is that, in the Ottoman case, Islam already had its association with the Arabic empire. Chrisitanity was a sect of an arbitrary conquered people that had global appeal. Chrisitianity has never been globally associated with one empire (except the Romans, who were about to decline at the time of Chrisitianity's state adoption), whereas the Arab empire was based on Islam. Thus, Islam has forever had its ties to the Arab empire, and the Ottomans were Arabized when they became Muslims. Chrisitanity didn't found an empire, but co-opted one, so the Europeans weren't Hebrewized, or even really Romanized, upon becoming Christians.

Is this a reference to Andy Grove of Intel? He's the only Hungarian computer person I'm aware of (he moved to the US after the failed 1956 revolution).
And he's not ethnic Hungarian to begin with. Hungarian Jew. And John Von Neumann is far more significant computer person originated in Hungary. He was Jewish too.
