Alt-WWI: Consequences of obvious Entente "War Guilt"

Note that this may perhaps require a POD before 1900, depending on what scenario you go for. Imagine a scenario of a slightly different WWI (or "Great War", given how the outcome/subsequent history may butterfly away WWII as we know it), which is undeniably started by the Entente powers (some help would be useful here, anyways :) ), perhaps also slightly earlier (or later, if you will) than in OTL. However, this still won't change the power setups/arrangements, meaning Germany and Austria-Hungary will probably eventually lose this war, anyways.

In OTL, it was certainly elegant (though folly) after WWI to exclusively blame Germany for the war. However, if in this scenario the Great War is undoubtably started by Britain/France, it would make no sense for them to blame Germany for the start of the war - it would be a very obvious lie and everybody would know it.

Likewise, what would be the other psychological effects of such an alternate WWI?

You only need the Entente to loose the war. Then they will be convicted as being the cause of the war. History would have been rewritten. (Edward Grey would become war criminal).

If the entente would start the war and win it, Germany still would be blamed for the War. "It was a neseccity because ........ blah blah"

Honestly I don't see it, they would find some reason for why it was Germans fault*. Even in OTL you can make a good argument for the Entern was to blame, of course as history show us you can also make the argument that the CP was to blame.

*I think the French-Prussian War are a good real life example, France declare war over a news paper, and somehow we all blame Bismarck (and his eerie psychic abilities). If you want the Entern to be blamed Germany either has to win the war or the next one.

Well, an earlier war would have different causes and from these could come more obvious guilt

- eg if it erupts over the Boer War, then one can pretty easily make a case for the British starting that war, and thus by starting that war starting the great war. I do know that one can also argue that the Boers started it (meh, he started it !) but from their point of view what choice did they have ?

- eg if it erupts over the First Balkan War and Italy ends up on the Entente side, then since Italy started the ball rolling, the whole shebang can be dumped on their head (if one can do that with shebangs)

Best Regards
