Alt. Civil War

I'm nice, people are being not so nice, and this is my occasional semi-retirement break (I was checking on my Heaven thread and got distracted by this), so I'll say this:

Timelines are art in their quality. Some are well done paintings, some are good drawings, some are sketches, some are stick figures. This is, no offense, somewhere between the latter two. It does not really take into account so many factors. Butterflies, for example, as there is a WWI which should have been altered by the event happening for the POD. Like a painting, if you want a good timeline, you must go carefully and meticulously with your brush strokes. If you just want a sketch (which the US Election Atlas site TL's are), you can leap frog over things by just post a "Date: Event" format, but you still need to give that sketch shape by doing research and taking butterflies and logistics into account. Otherwise, you have stick figures.

I didn't do research as you can see. This is just for fun. I know you guys probably don't care. If it doesn't make since to you it does to me. I am going with California and U.S.A pulling away from each other while the C.S is growing closer. This is what I think would happen.I think this because of the rocky mountains and distance it really seperates the west from D.C. just my opinion. If you hate it you can say so. If you want to help me improve thats great, but remember I only did this for fun.

@ Emperor Norton thanks for your post, it really is good and informative. I could go into great detail but I am not, if I leave it open your mind can flow and have your own ideas if it is two narrow you are trapped and bored. Also I don't really no much about politics/history I just really enjoy making maps. I only put the timelines because without it it would make NO sense. Thanks again for you post first helpful post on this thread.

Doing this for fun is not really a good excuse for not doing research. I mean, if you just want to tell an entertaining story, using real world nations and so on is just a hindrance.

If there is one thing this site's userbase takes seriously, it's making enough research that the guesses you make in allohistory are educated guesses.
