ALNAVCO is a company that sells various 1:1200 waterline ship models. These are used in dioramas, but more commonly for miniature naval wargames. They have been in business since 1965. From 1968 until sometime in the 1980's they published a small magazine about this gaming and other naval historical matters, the ALNAVCO Log. This was, for example, where the "Iowa vs. Yamato" debates, and the "Battleship X" debates took place. (The latter was proposals for a post Montana battleship class, designed on the basis that Britain would lose to Nazi Germany and the US would have to defend against a German fleet.
One of the campaigns discussed was that of a world where the various Naval limitation treaties failed. The only battle I recall was one of the British fleet versus the U.S. fleet fighting off Australia. Thus there were South Dakotas against G-3s. (I don't think they had any of the N-3 battleships, but it's been several years.) The battle was a tactical American victory, as I recall, but some of the British tactics were odd.
So far only the first year of the ALNAVCO Log is available on their website, but it might be worth looking at.

Considering all the postings about various never-built warships that have been here of late, this site might be worth a look.
