All of Germany under WAllied Control

Something I've been thinking about regarding "delayed Soviet advances but Germany still loses the war" type of scenarios

German offensive at Kharkov in '43 is even better and manages to chop off what would be Kursk bulge. Lines are straighter and lacking clear objective Germans opt for generly defensive posture with limited offensives. Soviets still advance but slower and with more casualties.

How to do this?

You'd probably need to delay the Soviet advance, by maybe 6 months to a year.

Not going to happen, at least without a very early pod, like no barbarossa, or hitlers assassinated inJan 42, and they military makes a truce with the soviets.

The general outlines of the Allied occupation of german were sketched out long before the end of the war.

If the ussr did much, much worse, the wallies might get austria, and get czechoslovakia neutral, say, but the Soviets WILL get a major occupation zone in germany.

The only way to avoid that would be if the ussr made or stayed at peace with the nazis, which would be a VERY different wwii.

They may get the zone, but not the puppet state.

Say, western allied and soviet forces meet somewhere in Poland. Thanks to westren allied presence Poland is reinstated as independed democratic country. Soviets get their zone in east Germany, but after few years they have to leave it, as being separated from it by Poland, they cannot force their presence there.
