All 50 states have primaries on the same day

Hi!

How would American politics have evolved if all 50 states had their primaries on the same day? Not sure whether this is supposed to be in Before or After 1900 as I don't know when the primary system started up.

We all vote on the same day, so why don't we all do primaries on the same day?

Presidential primaries came After 1900. I think Oregon in 1910 was the first one of this kind.

I think that's the way it should, exactly 6 months before the election, everyone at the same time, and NO results announced until the polls have closed in the last state (Hawaii). It would make the events leading up to the primaries more important, clear up a bunch of the crap we're seeing now and provide a clear way forward exactly 6 months out.

Oregon senator Frederick Steiwer proposed an amendment for a federal 'primary day' in the thirties, for all primary elections to be held. It didn't catch on, since primaries meant next to nothing at the time and nobody thought it warranted an amendment. So there is a potential POD to actually make this happen.
