Alfred Jodl acquitted at Nuremberg

Something I didn't know nazi war criminal Alfred Jodl was apparently posthumously acquitted of his conviction.

Jodl's Nuremberg verdict was controversial in U.S. military circles and on February 28, 1953, a West German court in Munich posthumously acquitted him of all charges. His property, confiscated in 1946, was returned to his widow. However, yielding to U.S. pressure, the Bavarian government recanted the court's judgment; on September 3, 1953, the Bavarian state minister of "political liberation" overturned the earlier revocation of the Nuremberg judgment.

So what happens if he had been acquitted at Nuremberg?

What would have happened if the Bavarian government hadn't overturned the courts decision.

Could the Allies have been charged with perverting the course of justice?

Lets discuss what effects this decision might have had.

Germany had signed binding treaties against aggressive war. They became part of German law. Jodl must have known the wars he was involved in planning and executign were aggressive.

If he were aquitted it would have been an injustice.

Then , do you think Churchill should also have been hanged because of his participation in the anglo-soviet agression against Iran in 1941?

Jodl was serving his country, not hitler, nazis just lead his country....

How I veiw it

90% of SS, guilty guilty guilty

90% of Wermacht, innocent mostly, were just doing there jobs though there was some atrocities on the eastern front, but almost any army would do that exposed to that kind of combat and the russians weren't any nicer

Jodl had it coming as did the entire General Staff that supported Hitler to the very end.

That reminds me of a dinner stalin and the other leaders had. They were talking about how the nurmenberg would go and stalin suggested they hold a trial for 100,000 people (or was it 10,000? 1 million? i dont remember:() FDR said they should only try 99,999 people (silly americans:D). Churchhill chickened out and said he would boycott Nuremberg. They solved the matter eventually though.

That's a bit excessive. Many, if not most of the SS was conscripts, not volunteers.

That's also excessive. There are never any excuses for war crimes. The vast majority of German war crimes were committed by regular army troops, and regardless of relative Soviet niceness, the Germans both A: Committed war crimes in the Soviet Union first, and B: At best did not act in a manner consistent with the conduct of a professional army, or, most likely and supported by just about every piece of historical evidence, were instructed to engage in a systematic campaign of abuse, deprivation and murder of civilians and captives.
