Alfonso II marries Eudocia Comnena

What if instead of Sancha of Castille the marriage plans go through with the niece of Manuel I. Could this be the kind of POD that gets rid of the Treaty of Cazola and enable Aragon ruling Murcia? What other effects could the marriage produce perhaps more interest in crusading in the holy land?

This Alfonso is Alfonso II of Aragon, right? I can't see how this could influence events on the Peninsula, but I suppose it might make Aragon more Mediterranean focused, and maybe lead to earlier ventures in the Balearics and Italy.

I don't think Aragon was too keen on crusading in the Holy Land. They had Muslims closer to home so there was no incentive to crusade there. However a crusade on Sicily is possible and so is the Baleares.

Alfonso I of Aragon is the only one I know that seriously considered on going crusading.

Crusading in the holy land or in Spain? Because there wasn't that big a distinction between the two (and Spain was the one region where you could say the second crusade was anywhere near a success).

Crusading in the Middle East, the real deal. Of course, Aragon had no coastline at the time, so he first invaded the lower Ebro to get one, and while besieging Fraga he got killed.

According to Wikipedia King James of Aragon wanted to crusade in 1269. I was thinking that since Eudocia's sister is queen of Jerusalem there might be added incentive for Alfonso II.
