Alexandria on Mount Athos What If

Prior to the building of Alexandria, when Alexander was looking to build a city in his glory, Dinocrates proposed to build a city on Mount Athos in Greece.[2] Alexander dropped the proposal as Dinocrates reportedly did not consider the living conditions of the residents when he admitted to not planning for grain to be grown near the city, instead, it was to be transported by sea.[3] The site of the current Alexandria was much more fertile and open than the harsh terrain of Mount Athos. Let's say Alexander doesn't drop the proposal and Alexandria in Egypt isn't built but a city on Mount Athos?

Alexander built a massive amount of cities named after him. Chances are the Egyptian one still gets built and the one on Mount Athos remains a minor settlement.

Indeed, especially considering A: he built several Alexandrias in the East and B: The construction of the city was started by Ptolemy.

Alexander was the Only Westerner to Conquer Persia.
