Alexander Dubček as an American politician?

In OTL, Alexander Dubček was conceived in Chicago but his father moved to Czechoslovakia and he was born there, but what if his family had stayed in America, and Alexander Dubcek pursues a career in politics. What could he be like as an American politician?Could there be any parallels between his alt-career in US politics and his OTL one?

It depends how much of his political views he got from his his parents, as well as his parents' political leanings. He could be anything really.

The cynic in me says he'd have become a Chicago alderman and a loyal member of the machine: in short, a largely faceless political hack who never strayed from the Democrats' party line and lined his pockets nicely through a sort-of-career of public "service", largely as a fixer and dispenser of patronage of the more-or-less trivial sort. His big moments of glory would probably have been an invitation to the Carter and Clinton inaugurals, where he would have gotten five seconds of fame shaking hands with those newly elected presidents.

While that's certainly a realistic, though cynical scenario, he also could have risen to political prominence after Watergate, as a congressman or governor of Illinois, and become the Democratic nominee for president in '76 instead of Carter.
