In this bin Laden manifesto here, he denounces the United States for, in addition to stuff like support for Israel and various Arab dictators, loaning money at interest, sexualization of women in the media, and even causing global warming.

Is it probable that AQ could be the seed of a general anti-West/anti-imperialist terror movement in the style of Command and Conquer: Generals' Global Liberation Army? The letter seems to be an attempt to appeal to people outside the Islamist "base"--environmentalists (global warming), anti-globalization types (banking), anti-racists (claiming the US supports democracy for white people only), and anti-nuclear people (claiming the nuclear bombing of Japan was unnecessary) for example. bin Laden has also cited hard-leftist William Blum's book Rogue State, even though it contains denunciations of mujahideen like OBL.
The more socially conservative aspects of this letter--the denunciation of separation of church and state and various sexual practices, as well as blaming the US for AIDS--are an obstacle to collaboration with more left-wing elements more common in the anti-globalization/anti-"imperialism" movements. However, those could get dropped if politically expedient. They're already lower on the list than the "you attacked us" stuff.
Caveat: This has been discussed on the board before, but it was a long time ago.
