Airborne Regiment not disbanded...

I was in the 2PPCLI Battle Group, during Medusa in Panjwaii. I was a Coyote driver. It's fucking insane that someone else who's been to Kandahar is on the board, though!

Panjwaii . . . Never got out that way, but I read the summaries.

It's not utterly improbable, but it is grounds for a verse of "It's a Small World After All". :)

Western (and Russian) airborne troops often remind me of USMC. Basically highly trained, elite infantry that is seldom used in their intended role.

Is this relevant to this thread? Not really, just something I thought of a while ago and was looking for a palce to post it.

They moved it off the boardwalk and into the CF compound, but it's still there as of two weeks ago. :)
FUCK YEAH.

At least the important things are secure. Hell with the Leopards, I just want my TimBits.

In case you're wondering, I was medicalled out of the 3rd ACR but they lowered the standards in the CF for folks who were willing to sign up for foreign service so I ended up scooting around the nougaty center of Asia for awhile.

Interesting. I've known plenty of folks who went the other way, from CF to USA. In fact, a buddy of mine who was a tanker in 1st Cav used to be a corporal in Bosnia with the Princess Pat's. Oddly enough, I ran across another ex-PPLI who was a US Army chaplain, and he knew the other guy.

Normally if you're in the same battalion you at least have a passing knowledge of each other. It's like high school that way, sort of. (certainly not much larger, sadly)

I was in 2PPCLI, but I knew some folks from 3PPCLI. They were the parachute trained batt and they'd come out to Shilo every once in awhile to use the airspace for drops. I can't say I was that social: it was kind of my alcoholic phase, but it was kind of everyones' alcoholic phase.
