Air operations in a 1938 war

A question inspired by the recent thread on air operations in 1939:

Suppose that Germany invades Czechoslovakia in 1938, and Britain and France subsequently (albeit not necessarily immediately) declare war on Germany. Suppose that Hitler avoids a coup (at least initially), allowing the war to continue for at least several weeks. The involvement of other powers is minimal. What might air operations look like in such a situation?

The best and the brightest of the Luftwaffe is still in Spain hammering out the rotten-schwarm-tactic, and the most common German fighter is the Bf 109, but in earlier variants.

Bf 109A and Bf 109B were all equipped with 610Hp engines, while the Bf 109C had a 690Hp engine. All had been retrofitted to variable pitch 3 blade propellers by September 1938. The A and B had 2x7,92mm MG17s and the C had 4x7,92mm MG17s. 22xA, 30xB and 58xC were delivered, with ~20 lost in Spain.

That leaves the Luftwaffe ~90 Bf 109A, B and C by the time of Munich.

There were roughly 350 Bf 109Ds available in September 1938 - although production was high - in late October, there were nearly 600. Only a few were equipped with the new DB engines for photo-ops, the mass produced ones had 660Hp engines. All ad 4x7,92mm MG17s.

There's also quite a few old biplanes around.

As a comparison, the Czechoslovaks have 445 Avia B.534 fighters with 4x7,92mm MK30 and a 860Hp engine.

Plus, according to some articles I saw years ago, Luftwaffe and to some extend Wehrmacht had supplies of ammunition for around 14 days of operations.
On other side, weather.
In October 1st 1938 and two weeks which followed weather really sucked. Low clouds, rain etc.

Absolutely. The RAF still had a lot of Gloster Gladiators. Not a bad plane, but no Spitfire or Hurricane. In fact the latter did not go into service until the end of the year and the former even later.

IIRC, Chain Home wasn't complete, either.

Will it matter much? If the Germans are invading Czechoslovakia, I imagine the Luftwaffe is going to be busy there first and the Czechs won't be complete pushovers. Also remember France is still in the fight and sending squadrons to Britain won't be as easy with the FAF in the way. How long until Chain home would be ready? A year or two at the most?

We might see the fast, light bombers that were built in the 30s, and did so poorly in WW2, do quite well. All major airforces were behind in their fighter program's, and the lack of large numbers of fast fighters might allow aircraft like the Blenheim and the much maligned Battle do well. In the German side the original slim Do17E and F might also do well, since the French were very late in their MS406 program...
It was the advent of the fast, cannon armed Bf109E that made those types vulnerable.
