Air and Space Photos from Alternate Worlds.

You have got to be kidding me...

Awesome factoid, right there !

I'm not sure they were ever seriously considered, mainly because it would be a huge logistic pain in the arse to ship them, and once Barbarossa and the Continuation War start, it would be a political pain too. And that's all assuming that Japan would be ok with shipping them across the USSR (I have no idea either way, although they had decent relations at this time IIRC) and that the Soviets won't try to nab them. Shipping them by sea would be even more of a pain, of course.

Plus, would the Swedish command, political leaders, and pilots be as forgiving of the Zero's drawbacks as the Japanese were? The Zero was extremely maneuverable and long-ranged, but only at the complete expense of survivability. Good as an offensive weapon for strategic power projection, but does Sweden need that kind of long-range capability? Are they willing to tolerate the lack of protection like the IJN did?

I was under the impression that the Vultee Vanguard was the aircraft of choice, and orders, but embargoes are a bitch. The homemade FFVS J-22 was the result, better than a Zeke. The Chinese ended up with the Vanguards, and they were never heard of again.

I am going to go ahead and toss these in here, still looking for comments.

Cool flying-wings. That Axehead with the 12 forward firing 20mm cannons would have been devastating against anything foolish enough to attempt a head on attack.
Probably would have been good for anti-shipping duty too.

In 1940, Dr. Greenblatt's development of the harmonis balancer, along with Feinstein's work with bearing metallurgy, allows the Jumo 222 engine to develop unprecedented power, thrusting Gen. Wever's pet project, the FW-191, into hurried development and flight testing. The outlook seems very promising.

To help keep track, here's a little comparison sheet

Looking good !   The TKS got built, EXCELLENT ! *Bill & Ted air guitar* :D

BTW, despite the STS never coming into existence, will spaceplanes be eventually created in this timeline ? I've seen that ESA spaceplane attempt, but will it prove succesful ?

The TKS got built, EXCELLENT !

Indeed, and it's still going strong into the late '90s, as seen in the below image from the most recent Eyes Turned Skywards post. Russia's Mir (larger and more capable than OTL's version) has been joined by a Chinese funded lab module. Crews are now sent up by both Russian TKS and Chinese Longxing spacecraft.

More images from the timeline can be found here and you can follow the discussion here.

Here is CF-184D Supercat 08184-1005 when it was retired from service from VFH 855 "Wolfpack" Squadron of the Canadian Fleet Air Arm in "Rise of the North/In Defence of Humanity" It is painted with the kill tally of former Squadron CO (then-Captain(N)) M. H. Li VC CV OMM MVO OBC.

VFH 855 was formed in 1994 following the donation of the retired carrier USS Forrestal to Canada to be rebuilt as HMCS Warrior (CV-24). The Canadian Forces decided to prepare to use its fleet of CF-184B (equivalent to F-14D) Super Tomcats aboard the new carrier. In a quiet deal with the United States Navy, volunteers from the recently disbanded VF-1 Wolfpack Squadron are transferred to the Canadian Fleet Air Arm on long term exchange, becoming part of VFH 855, the first CF-184 Squadron of the Canadian FAA. In honour of their former squadron, VFH 855 was named the Wolfpack and received special permission to use a modified version of the red wolf depicted on VF-1's crest.
