Assuming no Albigensian Crusade, what potential does an independent Occitan have at its disposal? This is a question mostly regarding the extent to which a fully independent or at least marginally independent Occitan could have on Europe entering the 14th and 15th century and beyond. Further, does an independent Occitan have any potentials to make gains against France, England, Aragon, or the states to the east?
Or conversely, is the Occitan positioned in too troublesome a land to effectively develop in opposition to France, Aragon and England?
Thank you for any responses.
This is referring to the state of Toulouse mainly^
