Maybe this has been asked before, but...
I'm wondering what happens if Tom Parker gets arrested for murder, & Elvis takes it as a sign from God to get out of R&R, & movies, to concentrate on Gospel. (POD, say, sometime after he gets out of the Army?)
How would that change R&R? And Gospel? What acts might do the songs otherwise written for (or done by, or covered by) Elvis? I'm picturing, frex, The Remains getting a break.
Are there Gospel acts that would (could) be shut out by Elvis' popularity? (Am I wrong to think this hurts Aretha?
)
Would he be getting #1 or Top 10 pop singles, still? Like, say, with a cover of "Spirit in the Sky"? (Or instead of Greenbaum's version?)
It also means Elvis doesn't do Vegas, so he probably lives longer, because he doesn't become a junkie.
