I thought it was from Dec 41 onwards, which is why I thought of the Audacious and Colossus classes, which were designed by 1942 with only the British wartime experience to draw on.
I don't know if the Pacific War did much for carrier design. Given the Essex class was designed and laid down before the war about the only carrier specifically designed for 'Pacific War' conditions was the Malta class. The Midways were designed to incorporate deck armour as a result of the British experience in Europe into the open hangar US design philosophy. The BPF showed that their carriers could be adapted to operate in the manner of the Pacific with big air groups undertaking 'Alpha strikes' without drastic modification.
Postwar the Forrestal class merged US and British design features.
