5th November 1934 General Smedley Butler is run down and killed by a taxi in Washington, the so-called business plotters turn to general Douglas MacArther
24th December 1934 MacArther leads a force of 8000 veterens into Washington and dissolves the government. Both the army and police stand aside.
21st January 1935 Hugh Samuel "Iron Pants" Johnson is elected President pro tem by the military council and ratified by the "business round table".
12th March 1935 the military government launches it's making America work plan. The unemployed will be drafted into labour divisions where they will be provided with food and board in return for labour. At the same time military budgets are increased by 35%.
3rd-9th May 1935 Two "new" divisions backed up with aircraft and light navel units carry out exercises on the Mexican border around brownsville Texas. The mexican government protests the aggressive provocation to the league of nations. President Johnson threatens to pull America out of the league.
15th August 1935 President Johnson visits Europe, he meets with Hitler and Mussolini. At the end of the the visit he annouced the end to America's support of the treaty of Versailles. A military trade, training and research commission is secretly formed.
23rd November 1935 A dissallusioned secret service shoots Johnson wounding him in his left shoulder. The secret service is gutted and a presidential praetorian guard is formed from men loyal to the junta. In the aftermath nearly 18,000 people are imprisoned. From his hospital bed Johnson announced that the scheduled election has been indefinitely postponed.
5th February 1936 the Mexican ambassdor is called to the white house. He is issued with the Grand union document. It claims that all Mexican land north of 27 degrees north will become an American industrial zone, all residents should stay in place and will become 'guest workers' for the new zone. Furthermore Mexico will demiliterize and become a US protectorate with a nominal government under the command of the US ambassador.
8th February 1936 the Mexican government rejects the Grand union document utterly and mobilzies it's armed forces. The Mexican government orders an emergency mobilisation of all reserves. Despite internal strife eighty percent of the 56000 strong regular army assembleswithin miles of the US border 22000 Tijuana, 5000 across the border from El Paso and 18000 across the border from Loredo over the next fortnight. Slowly these numbers increase with reserve units.
12th March 1936 After an attack on his camp General Jose Avila crosses the US border south of Loredo with a full battalion. They are met by the 3rd armoured cavalry regiment commanded by general George S. Patton. The Mexican unit is utterly destroyed in a two hour battle, some sources claim the mexicans who tried to surrender were shot down.
Two hours later US aircraft strafe the main Mexican positions while the army forms up. Attacking under artillary bombardment the US throw the mexicans out of their positions in a matter of hours. By nightfall Patton's troops have penetrated fifteen miles.
14th March 1936 All US forces on the border are ordered to attack at 06:00, by nightfall only one Mexican battalion is still holding it's position.
17th March 1936 a freighter from France docks in Veracruz carrying 50000 rifles, 40 machine guns, a million rounds of ammunition, eight feild guns and four Gloster Gladiators secretly bought from Britain a month earlier.
18th March 1936 President Johnson speaking on the wireless denounces The British Empire for interferring in American affairs. 18 British flagged ships near American territorial waters are boarded and taken to US ports "for inspections"
19th March 1936 The British follow suit comandeering 13 US flagged vessels in waters under their control. While boarding the USS William P. Murry in the Suez canal two Americans are shot and killed.
21st March 1936 US forces begin reaching the 27th parallel where they hold for further orders. The mexican army has been shattered. Only eight battalions are still in fighting condition. However the US discover their supply lines under attack from both scattered Mexican regulars and some of the rebel units.
25th March 1936 A French freighter arrives in Veracruz laden with weapons and munitions as well as 300 Spanish volunteers. The ship is half unloaded when the US navy opens fire on the port and city. The ship is sunk at the dock. An elderly US destroyer is badly damaged when one of the Gloster Gladiatiors crashes into it. The pilot is heralded as a hero in Mexico.
