AHC: Worship of a Dragon god

is there anny none ASB way to get a religion where they worship a sole supreme god in Dragon form??

I was just curious iff it could be more then just another brainfart:p

Well, you have Leviathan and Rahab, maybe you can have some breakaway Jewish sect worshiping either of them.

Also Tiamat in babylon
Quetzalcoatl in mexico
wasnt there a major snake/dragon figure in Aussie mythologies?

Midgard serpent is highly unlikely to become a chief god.

They were consideres just beasts, IIRC.

In China, dragons were seen as symbols of good luck. A sect based on them may become a large religion (though chinese religion tends to be desorganized.)

"In that day the Lord with his hard and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea." (Isaiah 27:1)

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook or press down his tongue with a cord? Can you put a rope in his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook? Will he make many pleas to you? Will he speak to you soft words? Will he make a covenant with you to take him for your servant forever? Will you play with him as with a bird, or will you put him on a leash for your girls? ..." (Job 41:1-34)

"You crushed the heads of Leviathan; you gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness." (Psalm 74)

So. You have established that at least one english translation calls leviathan a dragon. Fine. That quote suggests a large powerful beast, as Thanksforallthefish suggested, not a god.

You need a dragon to be worshipped, upgrading a dragon to god isn't that hard once you have a dragon in mind. Judaism was quite henotheistic, if I'm not mistaken - they worshipped Tamuz, and baked cakes for the Queen of Heaven, and erected poles and altars for Asherah and so on...a dragon cult wouldn't be impossible. Maybe if the Israelites were focused on seafaring in a more significant way appeasing the angry god(s) of the sea would become a necessity.
