I recently watched a series of movies about the recent history of the USSR/Russia. Then I got into details about the particularities of the 1990's as they were lived in Russia, both from the perpective of the emergence of a new culture, and that of utter political, economic and social chaos, and I was both terrified and fascinated. I don't want to be frivolous about the hardships people had to endure, but I cannot but wonder if there was a chance for the 2000's and 2010's in Russia to be just a continuation of that era. I'm thinking about Yeltsin leaving a strong power vaccuum, but I don't know if it's doable. Your thoughts?
