AHC/WI:There are at least three or more Patriarchies in the Western part of the Roman Empire?

So we have one example in OTL, so the same can happen given similar political and ecclesiastical landscapes.
Actually, everyone until the Reformation agreed that Peter was martyred in Rome; they just disagreed about whether that gave Rome primacy. I suppose some legend could start about the Apostle John, but I think it'd be easier to choose just about any other Apostle.

And by the way, why isn't there a patriarchy based on Ephesus (or other Asia Minor city)?
Too close to Constantinople? Too many other cities around with churches also founded by Paul himself? But even so, between John and Polycarp, you would think there could be some tradition lending Ephesus pride of place by the time of Nicaea and the founding of Constantinople...

(Really, my only guess why that didn't happen iOTL would be that John and Polycarp were just too humble to claim pride of place.)

I see... Well, I talked about James and Paul in Hispania.

I have to agree on this being the strongest reason!
