In OTL, of course, the Nazi Germans and Imperial Japanese conquered huge swathes of Europe and Asia, but inevitably fell.
What if the Soviets were a bit more successful pushing into Germany, then took a gamble and decided to invade the Western Allies, having a superior position? They might also invade northern parts of Japan or China.
Subsequently, after a gruelling war, the Allies, mainly thanks to the US since everyone else is exhausted from fighting, reconquer Europe (and optionally parts of Japan and China) and start to push into Russia. The Fall of the Soviet Union.
But after the defeat of the Axis and Soviet 'empires', this Allied 'empire' collapses to decolonization of French and British colonies.
If possible, a newly-independent India conquers other former colonies, and Pan-Africanists in Africa unite several African countries. To continue the cycle of empires rising and falling in a span of a few short years.
An Israel established by the Allies might also conquer swathes of the Middle East after they break off from France and Britain, and South Africa could try to mitigate African independence by invading countries to the north.
